WI vs PAK 2025 2nd ODI Match Results
Updated:West Indies beat Pakistan by 5 wickets. (DLS Method)
| Pakistan | West Indies |
| 171/7 (37) | 184/5 (33.2) |
It was a day of rain delays, wild momentum swings, and plenty of plot twists, but in the end, the West Indies walked away with a five-wicket win over Pakistan, and a 1-1 tie in the ODI series. Pakistan’s batters never quite found rhythm, stumbling to 171 for 7 thanks to Jayden Seales’ fiery spell (3 for 23) and some stubborn West Indian fielding. Rain shortened the match and bumped the Windies’ target up to 181 in 35 overs, but even with DLS math and early wickets, they kept their heads.

After a wobbly start, Sherfane Rutherford brought the fireworks with a punchy 45, including one big over off Shaheen that shifted the vibe completely. Roston Chase coolly anchored the end, finishing unbeaten on 49 as he steered the chase home with ten balls to spare. The spinners did their bit, Pakistan fought hard, but the Caribbean flair won out, and the series is now beautifully poised for a decider!

WI vs PAK 2025 2nd ODI – Rain Might Become the Key Factor
As mentioned in the article about the WI vs PAK 2025 1st ODI, Pakistan doesn’t have much experience playing on this ground because it’s relatively new. On the other hand, the West Indies, being the host nation, are quite familiar with the conditions. However, the BLR Stadium is considered a fairly balanced pitch, so the West Indies’ home advantage may not be as significant as one would expect. But what if it rains?

WI vs PAK – Considering the Monsoon, Spin Bowlers Could Be the Game Changer
This ODI series is happening in August, which coincides with the monsoon season in Trinidad and Tobago. Looking at the local rainfall data, around 15-20 days in a month usually see rain, though the intensity can vary quite a bit. If it does rain before the match, and the pitch becomes damp and soft, the spin bowlers from both teams will definitely play a crucial role. Pakistan needs to prepare for such conditions, so Abrar Ahmed is likely to be called upon. He would need to partner with Faheem Ashraf in the spin department. While spin isn’t Pakistan’s traditional strength, I have no doubt that Pakistan’s adaptability will allow them to adjust quickly.

WI vs PAK – Are Chase and Motie Ready to Take Charge?
The playing style of both the West Indies and Pakistan is similar, focusing on fast bowling, which has led to fewer spin bowlers being developed in both teams. For the West Indies, the main spin options are Roston Chase and the promising Gudakesh Motie. Both have an economy rate (Econ) averaging below 5.00 in their careers, lower than Pakistan’s main spinners. However, their recent performances have been off, with both averaging an Econ over 5.5 in the last five matches. Chase did well in the final match against England, conceding only 19 runs in 5 overs. Back in home conditions, Chase and Motie could perform well with local support. If it rains, the West Indies’ fate may depend on them.

WI vs PAK – Conclusion
As mentioned earlier, BLR Stadium is a fairly neutral ground, and if there’s no rain before or during the match, it will come down to the teams’ overall strength. But if the rain does make the surface wet and slippery, everything will change. If the West Indies are able to strategically adapt to these conditions, their chances could improve dramatically on a rainy day.

Recent 5 ODI Performances and Career Averages of Both Teams’ Spin Bowlers
| Bowler | Econ | Avg Econ |
| Roston Chase | 5.88 | 4.98 |
| Gudakesh Motie | 6.65 | 4.66 |
| Haris Rauf | 6.27 | 5.86 |
| Faheem Ashraf | 5.71 | 5.19 |
WI vs PAK 2025 2nd ODI – Venue History&Analysis: Brian Lara Stadium
Stadium Capacity: Around 20,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Brian Lara Stadium Rd, San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago
About the Stadium:
BLR Stadium was officially completed in 2017, so many teams are still unfamiliar with it. The stadium was designed to create a balanced pitch, offering fair competition between bowlers and batsmen. However, due to the local island climate, in August, Trinidad and Tobago experiences the rainy season. This makes the pitch softer and damp, and if it rains before the match, the ground becomes less favourable for fast bowlers. The ball tends to bounce unpredictably, which doesn’t make it easier for batsmen either, as increased humidity reduces the ball’s carry.

Because of this, in such climate and pitch conditions, the role of the spin bowlers becomes especially crucial. If a team fails to control the tempo of the game, they could easily be on the receiving end of continuous runs. The one positive aspect is that since the ball doesn’t travel as far, the chances of boundaries hitting are reduced. But, this all depends on whether there’s rain before the match. If it doesn’t rain, then the ground will be fairly neutral, and it will be a true test of the teams’ strength.
