India were all set to wrap things up early in Delhi, but West Indies had other plans! After enforcing the follow-on and expecting a quick win, India found themselves grinding it out for over 200 overs on a pitch that just wouldn’t give in. Despite being set a modest target of 121, they only got to 63/1 by stumps on day four, not quite the sprint to the finish they had in mind. Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul stayed steady, but Yashasvi Jaiswal’s early exit while trying to go big showed India’s brief burst of aggression didn’t quite stick.

Credit to the Windies, though John Campbell finally hit his maiden Test ton, and Shai Hope ended an eight-year century drought! Their gritty resistance, including a frustrating last-wicket stand of 79, made India work for every inch. Kuldeep and Bumrah did the damage in the end, but not before some nervy moments. Now, with just 58 runs needed and nine wickets in hand, India are cruising toward victory, but the West Indies definitely made them sweat for it.

India may have looked in full control after racking up 518 for 5 declared. Thanks to big knocks from Jaiswal (175), Gill (129*) and Sudharsan (87), but West Indies had a few tricks up their sleeve. Kuldeep Yadav spun through their first innings with a crafty 5-for on a sleepy Delhi pitch, helping India enforce the follow-on. You’d think that’d wrap things up quickly, but no, West Indies finally woke up! John Campbell (87*) and Shai Hope (66*) put on their best stand of the year, an unbeaten 138, to frustrate India and bring some life into the game.

It wasn’t all sunshine, though. Jayden Seales got fined for a throw that hit Jaiswal, claimed it was a run-out attempt, but the replays said otherwise. India’s bowlers toiled hard, especially with Bumrah held back until deep into the second innings. The pitch offered little bite, and the West Indies batters took full advantage. Campbell launched a few big hits, Hope played with finesse, and India suddenly found themselves short on answers. After dominating for two and a half days, the hosts will need something special to avoid this match dragging into a grind.

India kept their foot firmly on the pedal in Delhi, posting a massive 518 for 5 before calling it a day, thanks largely to Shubman Gill, who coolly notched up his 10th Test ton and his fifth as captain this year! West Indies finally showed a flicker of fight with the bat. Alick Athanaze top-scored with 41, and for once, they didn’t collapse like a house of cards. They actually lasted 43 overs and even stitched their first 50+ partnership of the series. But Jadeja had other plans, nabbing three wickets and keeping things spicy. With the Windies still 378 runs behind and needing 179 more to dodge the follow-on, it’s safe to say the mountain ahead is looking pretty steep!

India had a field day in Delhi, racking up 318 for 2 on Day 1 of the second Test against the West Indies, and it was all about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliance and B Sai Sudharsan’s calm class. Jaiswal was in full control, cruising to an unbeaten 173, barely breaking a sweat while flicking, cutting, and gliding his way past yet another milestone. At the other end, Sudharsan quietly made his mark too, putting up a composed 87 and partnering with Jaiswal for a massive 197-run stand. He got a few early gifts from the bowlers (thank you, full tosses!) but mostly earned his stripes with solid, thoughtful batting. The West Indies bowlers showed flashes of discipline but couldn’t really sustain pressure especially in the middle session, where India just ran wild. With the hosts firmly in control and Jaiswal still hungry, the Windies will need something special to turn this around on Day 2.
