By 2016, the 500th T20I match was played between Ireland and the UAE. In 2017, the ICC implemented the Decision Review System (DRS) in T20Is, debuting in the India-Australia series.

As of November 2024, India boasts the most T20I wins with 160 victories, while Pakistan has participated in the highest number of matches at 247. Rohit Sharma of India holds the record for the most career runs, amassing 4,231, and Tim Southee of New Zealand claims the top spot for most career wickets, with 164. T20I cricket is simply the international version of Twenty20 (T20) cricket. Its rules and regulations align closely with those of the standard T20 format, maintaining consistency across the game. In T20I cricket, each team is permitted up to 20 overs per innings. Each bowler is limited to a maximum of four overs. During the first six overs, known as the mandatory powerplay, only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
