T20I stands for Twenty Twenty International. The primary reason for developing T20I was the long duration of Test matches. In T20I, each team bats for a single inning of 20 overs. This format significantly shortens the time required for a match. The T20 format was introduced in 2003 by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), but the first-ever T20 international match took place on February 17, 2005, between Australia and New Zealand. Initially, the format was met with skepticism, but today, even the IPL has adopted the T20 format, proving its immense popularity. For more T20I history, please check About Twenty 20 International.
