AUS vs SA 2025 3rd T20I Match Results
Updated:Australia beat South Africa by 2 wickets.

What a thriller in Cairns! Australia chased down 173 in a nail-biter to beat South Africa by two wickets, and guess who saved the day? Glenn “The Big Show” Maxwell! After a shaky middle-order collapse, Maxwell stepped up with an unbeaten 62 off just 36 balls, pulling off some outrageous shots including a reverse scoop with the game on the line. South Africa nearly stole it with Corbin Bosch’s double-wicket maiden in the 19th, but Maxwell calmly turned down singles and sealed the deal with flair in the final over. Talk about drama!

Earlier, Dewald Brevis lit up the night with a fiery 53, smashing sixes like he owned the place until Maxwell caught him out with a brilliant diving effort. Adam Zampa kept things tight with 2 for 24, and Nathan Ellis chipped in with three wickets. Marsh also found some rhythm with a solid 54 at the top. South Africa had their moments, especially with four wickets in 18 balls, but once again, they fell short in a close finish. That’s now three last-over heartbreaks in a row, and Australia? Still unbeaten in seven straight T20I series!

AUS vs SA 2025 3rd T20I – Who’s the Real Boss of Middle-Order Sixes and Fireworks?
Compared to the first and second T20Is at Marrara Oval, the square boundaries at Cazaly’s Stadium are shorter measuring about 63 to 67 metres. This means batters aiming shots towards the shorter sides such as pulls, cuts or sweeps will find it easier to clear the ropes and score sixes. As the match goes on, players batting in the middle overs could play a decisive role here. So, who are the middle‑order heroes we should keep our eyes glued to? The ones who can turn a quiet over into fireworks in no time?

AUS vs SA – Tim David: The Ultimate Modern T20 Finisher
Who’s lighting up the Aussie middle order with fireworks? It’s Tim David, the six-hitting machine! In July 2025, Australia were chasing a stiff target and had lost early wickets. Tim David walked in and smashed the fastest T20I century for Australia reaching 100 in just 37 balls and hitting 11 sixes. From the New Zealand camp, the Kiwi players looked shocked yet respectful of the sheer force he displayed. His 37 ball hundred transformed what seemed like a difficult chase into an easy win.

Tim David’s recent T20I performances
| Opponents | Run | 4s | 6s |
| West Indies | 30 | 1 | 4 |
| West Indies | 102* | 6 | 11 |
| Pakistan | 7* | 0 | 1 |

AUS vs SA – Dewald Brevis: Explosive Finisher with 6 Sixes in Recent T20I Series vs New Zealand
For the Proteas, the dynamo Dewald Brevis is all set to set the stage on fire! Fondly called “Baby AB,” he showcased his explosive finishing skills in the recent ODI series against New Zealand in July 2025. During the 11th over, Brevis stepped up with a blazing 35 runs off 18 balls, including three towering sixes, as he attacked relentlessly against one of New Zealand’s most trusted bowlers, Matt Henry. In the last two matches especially, he maintained a strike rate close to 195. His assault threatened to break New Zealand’s defence, even in the late stages of the innings.

Dewald Brevis’ recent performances
| Opponents | Run | 4s | 6s |
| New Zealand | 31 | 1 | 3 |
| New Zealand | 13 | 2 | 0 |
| Zimbabwe | 13* | 1 | 1 |
| New Zealand | 35 | 1 | 3 |
| Zimbabwe | 41 | 1 | 5 |
AUS vs SA 2025 3rd T20I – Can Dewald Brevis and Lhuan‑dre Pretorius Rescue South Africa’s Middle Order?
Clearly, when it comes to the middle order, Tim David has been delivering better performances. But that’s not the end of the world for South Africa. Lhuan‑dre Pretorius, another rising star of South Africa, played well on T20I July 26, 2025, against New Zealand, hitting 2 sixes and 5 fours to score a total of 51 runs. If Lhuan‑dre Pretorius keeps up his aggressive approach, things could still look bright. And if he manages to build a strong partnership with Dewald Brevis, South Africa can definitely put on a thrilling show.

Stadium Address: Cazaly’s Stadium, 1 Mulgrave Road, Westcourt, Cairns, Queensland 4870, Australia
About the Stadium:
Cazaly’s Stadium is a prominent international sports venue located in Queensland, Australia. Initially established in 1957, it was originally known as a football park, dedicated to Australian rules football. The first upgrades to the venue began in 1984, and continued through to 2011. Over the years, the stadium evolved with constant improvements, adding facilities for rugby and cricket. Its versatility allows it to host a wide variety of events, including concerts and cultural activities.

The stadium has never before hosted a T20 International. However, it held its first international cricket match in July 2003, during the second Test of the Australia versus Bangladesh series. Australia won the series 2–0. In that Test at Cazaly’s Stadium, Australia posted a huge total of 556 runs.
