Stumps:Australia beat West Indies by 159 runs.

Australia pulled off a thrilling 159-run win over the West Indies in just three days in Barbados, thanks to a relentless final-session blitz. Josh Hazlewood was on fire, bagging five wickets as the Windies crumbled, losing their last ten wickets in a session. Shamar Joseph tried to fight back with some fireworks including two balls sent out of the stadium, but it wasn’t enough. Nathan Lyon wrapped things up with two wickets in two balls as the sun set, saving Australia from needing to return for Day 4.

The win wasn’t just about the bowlers, though—Australia’s middle order stepped up big time. Travis Head, who earned Player of the Match, hit two gritty fifties on a pitch that had a mind of its own. He got solid backup from Beau Webster and a blazing Alex Carey, whose strokeplay gave Australia a comfy cushion. Despite West Indies showing flashes of resistance and some bold strokeplay, dropped catches and missed chances haunted them throughout. In the end, it was classic Aussie grit that sealed the deal.
A destructive five-over spell from Josh Hazlewood!

AUS vs WI 1st Test Match:Day 2
Stumps:Australia lead by 82 runs.
| Australia | West Indies |
| 180 & 92/4 (33) | 190 |
The battle between Australia and the West Indies is turning into a gritty, low-scoring chess match in Barbados! With bowlers running the show on a spicy Kensington Oval pitch, Australia clawed their way to an 82-run lead at stumps despite another rocky start with the bat. Travis Head and Beau Webster dug in late on Day 2, fending off fiery spells from Shamar Joseph, who just won’t quit — regularly bowling over 140kph and even smacking Head on the hand for good measure!

Earlier, the West Indies scraped together a slender 10-run first-innings lead thanks to Shai Hope’s classy 48 and a feisty cameo from Alzarri Joseph. But the headlines? All about drama — dropped catches, a parade of DRS calls, and a third umpire so busy you’d think he was running the show. Controversial decisions (and reactions from a very animated Daren Sammy) added spice to an already tense match. With runs rare and tempers flaring, this one’s shaping up to be a nail-biter!

AUS vs WI 1st Test Match:Day 1
Stumps:West Indies trail by 123 runs.
| Australia | West Indies |
| 180 | 57/4 (20) |
It was a wild ride on Day 1 in Barbados as the West Indies’ fiery pace duo, Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph, lit up Australia’s batting order like a fireworks show gone wrong. Australia, after opting to bat, crumbled to a modest 180, their lowest total in the Caribbean since 1995. Travis Head fought hard for his 59, and Khawaja had more lives than a cat (dropped twice), but once Joseph got rolling, wickets tumbled fast and furious. Despite some dodgy catching, the Windies’ quicks made the most of a seamer-friendly pitch with Joseph especially looking sharp, hostile, and hungry.

But don’t count out the Aussies just yet. Mitchell Starc and his crew came out breathing fire, ripping through West Indies’ top order and reminding everyone why you never sleep on their bowlers. Starc removed Brathwaite and Campbell early, while Cummins and Hazlewood kept things tight. West Indies finished the day at 57 for 4, still trailing by 123, with debutant Brandon King hanging on after a shaky fielding performance. If this pace-heavy pitch keeps playing tricks, this match could wrap up quicker than your weekend plans — better cancel that Sunday BBQ.

AUS vs WI 2025 1st Test: Can Australia break the Kensington curse since 2008?
The Australia tour of West Indies 2025 is all set to kick off with the first Test match at the historic Kensington Oval Cricket Ground in Bridgetown, Barbados. This venue has seen some classic encounters between the two sides, dating all the way back to 1955. Since then, a total of nine Test matches have been played here between Australia and the West Indies, with the hosts holding a slight edge — winning four matches compared to Australia’s three, while two ended in draws.
Historically speaking, the West Indies have had the upper hand at this venue, not only in terms of the number of victories but also in recent form — they emerged victorious in the last Test played here between the two teams in 2022. Australia, on the other hand, haven’t managed a win over the Windies at this ground since way back in 2008.

Australia’s Key Players to Watch
- Pat Cummins (C & Fast Bowler) – His bounce, seam movement, and relentless accuracy exploit Kensington’s pace-friendly conditions. A threat with new/old ball.
- Marnus Labuschagne (Batter) – Elite vs pace, grinds runs on tricky pitches. His footwork against bounce is key to stabilizing the innings.
- Mitchell Starc (Fast Bowler) – Left-arm angle, swing, and brutal short balls thrive here. Early wickets and late reverse swing make him lethal.
- Travis Head (Batter) – Aggressive counterattacks disrupt bowling plans. Crucial if Australia needs quick runs on a slowing pitch.

West Indies’s Key Players to Watch
- Kraigg Brathwaite (C & Opener) – Defensive rock who blunts the new ball. Patience vital vs Australia’s pace attack on this track.
- Alzarri Joseph (Fast Bowler) – Raw pace and steep bounce target Australia’s batters. Match-winner if he finds rhythm early.
- Tagenarine Chanderpaul (Opener) – Inherited his dad’s grit. Perfect for surviving Cummins/Starc with compact technique.
- Jason Holder (All-Rounder) – Extracts bounce with his height, plus clutch lower-order runs. Experience balances the side.
