On Valentine’s Day, Zimbabwe secured a thrilling 49-run victory over Ireland in the first ODI, thanks to Brian Bennett’s stunning 169. Promoted to open, Bennett’s powerful knock, which accounted for more than half of Zimbabwe’s total, guided the hosts to 299/5. Ireland’s chase fell short despite spirited efforts from Curtis Campher (44) and a late rally from George Dockrell (34) and Andy McBrine (36). Zimbabwe’s bowlers, led by Blessing Muzarabani’s 4/51 and Richard Ngarava’s 3/56, sealed the win, as Ireland finished on 250.
