It was raining sixes in Bready as the West Indies lit up the ground with some explosive batting, thumping Ireland by 62 runs to take the T20I series 1–0. Evin Lewis came out swinging with a fiery 91 off just 44 balls, while Shai Hope (51) and Keacy Carty (an unbeaten 49 on debut!) added fuel to the fire. After a slow start, they rocketed to 256 for 5, thanks to a power-hitting masterclass that saw the ball disappear into the trees, and occasionally the crowd. Poor Liam McCarthy had a debut to forget, leaking 81 runs in his four overs, the most ever in T20I history.
How about that for a debut innings!💥

Ireland looked up for the chase at first. Paul Stirling’s three early boundaries got fans dreaming, and Ross Adair (48) and Harry Tector (38) stitched together a promising 101-run stand. But the wheels came off after Tector’s dismissal, and they never quite recovered. Akeal Hosein turned the tide with 3 for 27, while Jason Holder chipped in with a couple as well. Despite some late resistance from Mark Adair, Ireland fell short, ending on 194 for 7. Big hits, high drama, and a series win—classic Windies cricket.

IRE vs WI 2025 3rd T20I: Who will take the final honours? Ireland or West Indies?
After yesterday’s encounter, the West Indies tour of Ireland now heads into its final showdown — and once again, all eyes turn to Stormont Cricket Ground. Over the past three days, both teams have already played two high-intensity matches with barely any rest in between. Now, with the series on the line, they face each other once more in what promises to be a real test of not just stamina, but also mental toughness. Fatigue is bound to set in, but neither side will want to back down at this stage. In a game where every run and every mistake can make the difference, the team that keeps its nerves and errors in check will have a much stronger chance of walking away with the win.

Ireland’s Key Players to Watch
- Andrew Balbirnie – The anchor of Ireland’s lineup, Balbirnie’s technical prowess against pace and spin makes him vital at Stormont. With potential top-order collapses in quick games, his experience in building innings could prove decisive. Expect him to target mid-wicket gaps while rotating strike efficiently.
- Curtis Campher – A clutch performer, Campher’s intelligent medium-pace and late-order hitting provide perfect balance. His cutters may exploit Stormont’s two-paced nature, while his batting maturity helps stabilize chases. The ideal player for high-pressure games.
- Barry McCarthy – Likely replacing Little, McCarthy’s seam movement and deceptive slower balls thrive here. His ability to bowl both powerplay and death overs makes him indispensable. Fresh legs after rotation give Ireland an attacking edge with the new ball.
- Lorcan Tucker – The explosive keeper-batter punishes width and uses Stormont’s bounce for lofted drives. His quick hands against spin and sharp glovework create momentum shifts. If Ireland post 160+, his cameo will likely be the difference.

West Indies’s Key Players to Watch
- Brandon King – The powerplay dominator loves true-bounce tracks. After quiet games, expect fireworks as he targets square boundaries. His ability to convert starts into big scores makes him WI’s most dangerous top-order threat.
- Kyle Mayers – Potentially replacing Russell, Mayers offers explosive batting and clever medium-pace. His straight hitting suits Stormont’s dimensions, while his cutters could trouble Ireland’s middle order. The perfect utility player for must-win games.
- Oshane Thomas – Raw pace replaces Joseph’s precision. Thomas’ steep bounce and 145kph+ deliveries can rattle Ireland, though his economy remains risky. If he strikes early, WI could control the game before spin takes over.
- Roston Chase – The dark horse – his accurate off-spin exploits tired pitches, while calm batting anchors collapses. Against Ireland’s left-handers, his match-up mastery could yield 2-3 cheap wickets during middle overs.
