ZIM vs AFG 2025 Only Test Match:Day 3
Stumps:Zimbabwe won by an innings and 73 runs.
| Afghanistan | Zimbabwe |
| 127 & 159 | 359 |
Zimbabwe finally broke their long Test drought in style, thrashing Afghanistan by an innings and 73 runs in Harare; their first home Test win since 2013 and biggest ever! The hosts wrapped things up in under three hours on day three, led by Richard Ngarava’s career-best five-wicket haul. His relentless line and subtle movement through the air kept Afghanistan gasping for answers. Add in Tanaka Chivanga’s early breakthroughs and Blessing Muzarabani’s ruthless clean-up job, and it was clear the visitors were outmatched from start to finish.
Huge victory! 🎉

Of course, the victory didn’t just come from the bowlers. Ben Curran’s classy 121 and Sikandar Raza’s sharp 65 on day two had already built Zimbabwe’s towering 359, setting the tone for total control. Captain Craig Ervine couldn’t hide his grin afterward, calling the win “the perfect way to finish a tough year.” Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Hashmatullah Shahidi admitted his side’s batting collapse cost them dearly. Next up, both teams switch gears to the T20Is, and if Zimbabwe bring even half this confidence, they’ll be tough to stop.

ZIM vs AFG 2025 Only Test Match:Day 2
Stumps:Afghanistan trail by 198 runs.
| Afghanistan | Zimbabwe |
| 127 & 34/1 (12) | 359 |
Zimbabwe are on top in Harare, and they’ve got Afghanistan in a real spin, literally and figuratively. After skittling the visitors for just 127 on day one, they flexed with a towering 359-run reply, led by Ben Curran’s marathon 121 and Sikandar Raza’s classy 65. Ziaur Rahman, playing his first Test, bowled like he’s been around forever, grabbing 7 wickets and making history while he was at it. Afghanistan’s fightback? Let’s just say it’s a work in progress.
𝐀 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐬! 🤩
Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi put on a terrific bowling performance as he returned with outstanding figures of 7/97 in his debut Test match. 👏
Excellent start to your Test career, Zia! Many more to come. 🙌#AfghanAtalan | #ZIMvAFG… pic.twitter.com/dzKBfJsudv

By stumps on day two, the visitors were 34 for 1, still trailing by 198, with Ibrahim Zadran showing some grit on 25*. Malik, however, got bounced out by Ngarava, who wasn’t messing around. Curran and Raza’s 99-run stand wore the Afghans down, and the tail was no match for Ziaur’s steam. Unless Afghanistan pull off something dramatic, this one’s looking like Zimbabwe’s game to lose.
A maiden Test century for Ben Curran 👏

ZIM vs AFG 2025 Only Test Match:Day 1
Stumps:Zimbabwe lead by 3 runs.
| Afghanistan | Zimbabwe |
| 127 | 130/2 (38) |
Zimbabwe made the most of a bold call to bowl first, and boy, did it pay off! Brad Evans stole the show with a fiery five-wicket haul, tearing through Afghanistan’s lineup like a hot knife through butter. They folded for just 127, despite a gritty 37 from Gurbaz. Muzarabani kept the heat on too, grabbing three scalps. Zimbabwe’s reply started a bit shakily, but Ben Curran’s patient fifty and a near half-ton from Nick Welch steadied the ship. By the time the umpires called it a day, Zimbabwe had edged ahead with 130 for 2, holding a slim 3-run lead and all the momentum.
A maiden fifer in Tests for Brad Evans as Zimbabwe bowl out Afghanistan for 127 on Day 1 of the one-off Test 👌

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. Afghanistan’s quicks kept things spicy. Ziaur Rahman picked up his maiden Test wicket, and had Welch bowled just as he looked set. But the Zimbabwe batters dug deep, survived some fiery spells, and pounced on anything loose, Welch even launched a six over midwicket for good measure. The return of Test cricket to Harare couldn’t have started better for the home side.
That’s Stumps on Day 1
AfghanAtalan have taken one more wicket in the final session on Day 1 as the proceedings take Zimbabwe to 130/2, leading by 3 runs going into the stumps. 👍#AfghanAtalan | #ZIMvAFG | #GloriousNationVictoriousTeam pic.twitter.com/ney9JGIcsX

ZIM vs AFG 2025 Only Test – A Non-Regular Test Before the T20I Series
Before the T20I clashes begin between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, a rare one-off Test at Harare Sports Club will open the coming series. Such standalone Tests are not regular fixtures, making this a special moment for Zimbabwe to prove their strength at home. As the bottom of ranking side, Zimbabwe have been struggling recently, losing their last five Tests. Afghanistan, just one rank upper, meanwhile, have recorded one win, one draw, and two losses in their recent form. However, that single win came against Zimbabwe in early 2025. Will the result repeat itself, or can the hosts turn the tables this time?

ZIM vs AFG – Resting For Further Games
Afghanistan’s T20I captain and all-rounder Rashid Khan has been rested ahead of the upcoming T20I matches to prioritize his fitness. The team also suffers another blow with Rahmat Shah’s calf injury, who was key with a 139-run knock in their last Test win. Fortunately, Ismat Alam, who scored a century in the same game, remains available, along with captain Afsar Zazai and opener Ibrahim Zadran. Yet the spin department looks weak. Rashid took 11 wickets in that win, and with his absence, replacements like Sharafuddin Ashraf, who has never played a Test, may struggle to fill the gap.

ZIM vs AFG – Zimbabwe’s Good Chances
Despite their struggles, Zimbabwe continue to rebuild their Test squad with a focus on gaining experience. This match could finally be their chance to break the losing streak. With Afghanistan missing key spinners and top-order strength, conditions favor the hosts. In their last meeting, no Zimbabwe batter managed a century under Rashid’s spin, but this time, the path looks clearer. Brian Bennett and Sean Williams lead the charge, Bennett’s youthful energy paired with Williams’s experienced all-round ability could provide the balance Zimbabwe needs. A home win would not just be redemption, but a strong statement of progress.

ZIM vs AFG – A Closer Game Than We Predicted?
This one-off Test holds more intrigue than it first appears. Zimbabwe have the home advantage, and Afghanistan arrive slightly weakened. If Afghanistan’s batters fail to hold form, Zimbabwe’s chances rise sharply. Even if Afghanistan post strong totals, their lack of spin depth could make it difficult to restrict the hosts’ scoring. The gap between the two sides has narrowed, setting the stage for a surprisingly close and competitive contest in Harare.

ZIM vs AFG 2025 Only Test – Venue History&Analysis: Harare Sports Club
Stadium Capacity: Around 10,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Fifth Street Extension, Harare, Zimbabwe
About the Stadium:
Harare Sports Club sits in the heart of Harare, surrounded by tree-lined streets and old pavilions that carry the scent of history and the sound of many matches. The ground has long been the stage of Zimbabwe’s cricketing story, from early Tests to their most memorable wins. It feels personal here, not grand or distant, but close enough that every cheer and clap wraps around the players. The crowd arrives slowly, families and students finding their spots as the morning light grows stronger. When play begins, the noise rises like a wave, patient yet passionate. The venue carries both nostalgia and promise, a place where Zimbabwe’s cricket keeps rediscovering itself every season.

The surface at Harare Sports Club offers a careful balance between challenge and reward. In the early hours, seamers find enough movement to trouble batters who play loosely, while those who stay patient can build through the middle sessions. As the day heats up, the ball loses its bite, turning the surface into a friendlier track for stroke play. Spinners join the contest later, using small cracks and dryness to test footwork and focus. Timing, precision, and mental strength often decide the game here. The quick outfield turns singles into twos and makes every misfield costly. By the last session, the pitch carries both opportunity and risk, and the team that adapts faster usually walks away smiling.
