Australia pulled off a thrilling chase to notch up their fourth win on the trot, edging out the West Indies by three wickets in Basseterre. Cameron Green was the cool head in a tense finish, smashing an unbeaten 55 off just 35 balls to get the Aussies over the line with four balls left. Earlier, Josh Inglis set the tone with a slick 51, while Glenn Maxwell caused early chaos with a brutal 47 off 18 and a couple of game-changing catches, including one gravity-defying grab at the rope that looked straight out of a video game.

The West Indies, despite blasting past 200 runs, couldn’t find a standout scorer, with no one topping 34. Jediah Blades sparked some hope with 3 for 29 in just his second game, but dropped catches and missed chances haunted the Windies again. Australia’s bowling depth shone through with Hardie, Bartlett, and Zampa all chipping in, and their fielding was simply next level. In the end, Green’s calm under pressure sealed the deal, and West Indies were left wondering what more they could’ve done.

WI vs AUS 2025 4th T20I – Key Player Battle to Watch

When it comes to T20 Internationals, both West Indies and Australia are among the top-ranked sides globally. With world-class talent on both ends, be it the power-packed batters or the clever bowlers, this contest promises high-intensity action. Let us take a closer look at one of the most exciting match-ups that could influence the outcome of the game.

WI vs AUS – Rovman Powell vs Adam Zampa

One of the most intriguing face-offs in this contest will be between Rovman Powell and Adam Zampa. Powell has emerged as a dependable presence in the West Indies middle-order. Renowned for his explosive hitting, particularly his effortless ability to clear the boundary, Powell also brings a rare sense of calm and patience to his batting. He reads the game well, knows when to rotate the strike, and when to shift into attacking mode. His dual role as both a tactical anchor and momentum driver makes him a vital piece in the WI setup.

With a career T20I average of 25 and a strike rate nearing 141, Powell strikes a fine balance between calculated aggression and composure. While he might not dominate spin the way the recently retired Nicholas Pooran did, he is by no means vulnerable to it. He has developed a reliable method of handling spin, and what makes him especially dangerous is his ability to time his counterattacks. All it takes is one well-judged delivery for him to explode, often lifting it for six over midwicket and flipping the pressure onto the bowler.

On the other side, Adam Zampa remains Australia’s go-to spinner and a proven threat in the middle overs. A specialist leggie who thrives on deception, Zampa operates with a diverse arsenal: his classic leg-break, the top-spinner, the wrong’un, and his widely-used slider. His skill lies in variation, mixing subtle changes in line, length, and pace to outthink and outplay even the most set batters. His ability to disguise deliveries makes him a persistent challenge, especially for power-hitters looking to take him on.

Zampa’s recent numbers reflect his tactical mastery. He most frequently dismisses batters by tempting them into mistimed lofted shots that result in catches, followed by bowled and LBW dismissals that highlight his control over line and deception. With 117 wickets from 95 T20Is, an economy rate of around 7.17, and a strike rate just under 18 balls per wicket, he has established himself as one of the most efficient middle-over bowlers in world cricket.

This sets the stage for a compelling duel. Powell will be eyeing any overpitched or short delivery to launch his attack, using footwork and timing to disrupt Zampa’s rhythm. Meanwhile, Zampa will be plotting ways to outfox Powell, waiting for that one mistimed shot. It promises to be a battle of sharp minds and fine margins. The only question is whether Zampa can settle into Warner Park’s conditions quickly enough to take control.

WI vs AUS 2025 4th T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Warner Park

Stadium Capacity: Approximately 10,000 spectators

Stadium Address: Warner Park Sporting Complex, Victoria Road, Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, KN0104

About the Stadium:

Warner Park has been used as a cricket venue since 1926, but it rose to prominence on the international stage only after its significant upgrade in 2006. Since then, the ground has hosted several high-profile matches, with one of the most memorable being the T20I between West Indies and England on 10th March 2019. That match is still remembered fondly by fans as a ‘double history night’ because it witnessed two contrasting records. England posted a brilliant total of 182 runs, which remains the highest team score at Warner Park to date. Sam Billings played a spectacular innings in that game, scoring 87 runs off just 47 balls, which included 10 boundaries and 3 sixes.

In response, West Indies suffered a dramatic collapse and were bowled out for just 45 runs in 11.5 overs. This remains not only the lowest total ever recorded at Warner Park but also the lowest in West Indies’ T20I history.

Another iconic fixture took place in 2022 when West Indies faced India in a T20I at the same venue. Obed McCoy delivered a spellbinding performance with bowling figures of 6 wickets for 17 runs. Opening the bowling, McCoy dismissed Indian captain Rohit Sharma with his very first ball. He then went on to send back Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in quick succession using just 16 deliveries. This outstanding spell made McCoy the first bowler in T20I history to take 6 wickets against India in a single match, a record that still stands unbeaten.
