SL vs ZIM 2025 3rd T20I Match Result
Updated:Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe by 8 wickets.
| Zimbabwe | Sri Lanka |
| 191/8 (20) | 193/2 (17.4) |
Sri Lanka brought the fireworks in Harare, chasing down Zimbabwe’s 191 with a cool eight wickets in hand and 14 balls to spare. After Zimbabwe flexed their batting depth. Thanks to a gritty 51 from Marumani and fast-paced cameos, it looked like Sri Lanka might have their hands full. But then came Kamil Mishara. The left-hander lit up the chase with a classy unbeaten 73 off 43 balls, teaming up with the experienced Kusal Perera (46*) for a 117-run stand that made the target look way too easy.

Earlier, Dushan Hemantha kept Zimbabwe in check with three crucial wickets, while Pathirana and Chameera closed out the innings like pros, giving up just 38 in the final four overs. Sure, Zimbabwe had their moments, especially in the powerplay, but Sri Lanka’s aggressive start and calm finish made the difference. With that, they sealed the series 2-1, and Mishara may have just punched his ticket to becoming a regular in this lineup.

SL vs ZIM 2025 3rd T20I – Which spinner will turn the game
Sri Lanka, a team known for their spin-heavy and slightly slower brand of cricket, will lock horns with Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on September 3. This will also be Sri Lanka’s first outing at this venue. With spinners playing a key role in their setup, the question is whether Zimbabwe can make home advantage count.
SL vs ZIM – Zimbabwe’s spin concerns
For Zimbabwe, the obvious name is skipper Sikandar Raza. But when you look at his last five T20I outings, the numbers are not encouraging at all. His economy is 8.73 and he has picked up only 0.4 wickets on average. That is way below what you expect from a frontline spinner, especially from the captain. Even Wellington Masakadza, the second-choice spinner, has been worse with no wickets in his last five matches and an economy of 9.01. With such poor returns, it looks difficult for Zimbabwe’s spinners to be genuine X factors unless they suddenly pull off something extraordinary.

SL vs ZIM – Sri Lanka without their main man
As already discussed earlier, Wanindu Hasaranga is still struggling with injury and his availability remains doubtful. If he plays, Sri Lanka will straightaway get a huge boost. But in case he misses out, the spin duties will rely on Theekshana and Vandersay. To be honest, both are more like role-playing bowlers rather than match-winners. Theekshana has an economy of 9.87 and averages just 0.6 wickets per game, while Vandersay has an economy of 8.47 and hardly 0.2 wickets on average. With such stats, it is hard to see them being the X factor in this match.

SL vs ZIM 2025 3rd T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Harare Sports Club, Harare
Stadium Capacity: Around 10,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Harare Sports Club, Fifth Street Extension, Harare, Zimbabwe
About the Stadium:
Harare Sports Club, right in the heart of Harare city, is the main home ground of Zimbabwe cricket. Normally when we talk about home advantage, most teams enjoy a much higher win percentage at their own venues. But in Zimbabwe’s case it is very different. Their win percentage in T20Is at HSC is only 25.5 percent, which is shockingly low compared to other major nations. Teams like India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand usually maintain around 50 to 60 percent success rate at home, so the contrast is huge. Zimbabwe’s struggles at home are not only about tough opponents, half of the problem actually comes from their own side.

The HSC pitch has been prepared as a slow surface to suit Zimbabwe’s style, yet their bowling depth is not enough. Even with a key spinner like Sikandar Raza, they lack quality pacers to make an impact in the Powerplay. Their tactics also fail to maximize spin, so bowlers struggle to control the game in any phase. More importantly, both batting and bowling lack consistency and overall quality. Stronger teams end up using the same conditions better, while against weaker sides Zimbabwe often lose matches they should win. In short, Zimbabwe themselves must take much of the blame for their poor home record.
