SL vs ZIM 2025 2nd T20I Match Result
Updated:Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets.
| Sri Lanka | Zimbabwe |
| 80 (17.4) | 84/5 (14.2) |
Talk about a bowling masterclass! Zimbabwe’s attack came out swinging, bundling Sri Lanka out for just 80 runs, which is their second-lowest T20I total ever. Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans lit up the powerplay with four wickets between them, before Sikandar Raza came in like a wrecking ball in the middle overs, bagging 3 for 11. Sri Lanka never got going, no real partnerships, no momentum, and not even a hint of a fightback.

Chasing a modest target, Zimbabwe made it a bit dramatic by losing a few wickets, but Tashinga Musekiwa’s cool 21* off 12 balls sealed the deal in the 15th over. Dushmantha Chameera tried to spoil the party with his fiery 3-wicket burst, but it wasn’t enough to stop Zimbabwe from strolling to a five-wicket win.

SL vs ZIM 2025 2nd T20I – Battle of the Spinners
When we talk about Harare Sports Club, there is hardly a need to explain why spinners come into the picture. The surface here always suits spin, and both sides rely heavily on their slow bowlers. The only question is who will handle it better. On one side you have Zimbabwe, whose overall strength is a bit lower, while on the other side Sri Lanka are missing their main spinner. So which team has the edge?

SL vs ZIM – Current state of Zimbabwe’s spin attack
Zimbabwe’s spin unit is led by captain Sikandar Raza, backed by Wellington Masakadza and Ryan Burl. This trio actually matches the Harare pitch quite well. Raza often comes on early in the Powerplay to break the rhythm and control the flow, while Masakadza and Burl usually take charge in the middle overs and even in the death. Their roles are fairly clear as well. Raza tends to target right-handers, Masakadza does better against left-handers, and Burl can handle right-handers too while also chipping in with surprise wickets. On paper this looks balanced, but it all depends on how consistent they are. Judging by their recent form, it may still be a tough task for Zimbabwe to hold things together.

SL vs ZIM – Can Sri Lanka manage without Hasaranga?
For Sri Lanka, the situation is quite tricky. Their premier spinner Wanindu Hasaranga is very unlikely to play because his recovery from injury is still uncertain. Without him the side looks less threatening. The remaining options are more functional than attacking. Theekshana is excellent at containing runs but not as effective at striking. Vandersay has not been steady enough, and Kamindu Mendis, though he can bowl some spin, is mainly there as a batting all-rounder. So if we compare purely on the spin front, Sri Lanka do not look much stronger than Zimbabwe. At least Zimbabwe still have Raza in top form.

SL vs ZIM – Conclusion
Looking at both sides, neither spin department looks in great shape, and neither seems fully ready to exploit the conditions at Harare. You might expect a very tight game, but I do not really see it that way. The reason is simple. Even if Sri Lanka’s spin is not at its best, they still have a superior pace attack and much stronger batting. That alone puts them ahead. My prediction is that Sri Lanka still hold about a 60 percent chance of winning this contest.

SL vs ZIM 2025 2nd T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Harare Sports Club, Harare
Stadium Capacity: Around 10,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Harare Sports Club, Fifth Street Extension, Harare, Zimbabwe
About the Stadium:
As we have already discussed, Harare Sports Club is known as a slow surface. On average, T20 internationals here usually stay around 151 to 154. But records are meant to be broken, and in July 2024 when India faced Zimbabwe, India posted the highest ever total on this ground with 234 runs. The star was Abhishek Sharma, who smashed a century in just 47 balls at a stunning strike rate of 212.76. His knock had 7 boundaries and 8 sixes. Along with him, Ruturaj Gaikwad also scored 77 off 47. One made a century and the other a fifty, and together they completely dominated the hosts.

Now when we talk of the highest, we cannot forget the lowest. The unwanted record belongs to Pakistan, who in April 2021 were bundled out for just 99 runs. To be fair, even Zimbabwe could manage only 118 in reply, both teams well below the ground average. Pakistan’s struggles came largely due to Luke Jongwe, who picked up 4 wickets, but also because their batting never got going. Even captain Babar Azam crawled to 41 from 45 balls, while three players fell without scoring. To make matters worse, Usman Qadir was run out first ball. It was one of those days when nothing clicked and the total ended embarrassingly short.
