RSA vs PAK 2024 2nd T20I – A fascinating chase by South Africa
Without David Miller, South Africa were expected to struggle, but Reeza Hendricks produced a stunning 117 runs, his first T20I century and career-best, to lead a thrilling chase with three balls to spare. The win not only secured a 2–0 series result but also marked their first bilateral T20I series victory since August 2022. Pakistan had Saim Ayub nearly reach a century and posted a strong 206 runs, a total that looked defendable on paper. Yet their bowling fell apart under pressure, leaking runs in the middle overs and failing to contain the chase. This match showed the difference in temperament between the two sides when it came to defending or chasing big scores.

RSA vs PAK – Reeza started strong, Rassie finished it powerful
South Africa’s batting looked uncertain without Miller, but Reeza Hendricks silenced doubts with his maiden T20I century. Later, Rassie van der Dussen steadied the chase with 62 off 38, and together with captain Heinrich Klaasen, carried the team home. Not needing contributions from first-match hero George Linde showed South Africa’s depth, proving their lineup has multiple match-winners ready to step up in pressure moments. Rassie’s composure in the late overs allowed the side to absorb Pakistan’s brief fightback and finish the chase with control. It was a reminder that South Africa now have the batting balance to win without depending on just one star.
RSA vs PAK – Babar Azam came back, but Rizwan fell early this time
While Mohammad Rizwan fell for just 11, Babar Azam bounced back with a quick 31 off 20, and together with Saim Ayub’s near-century plus Irfan Khan’s late cameo, Pakistan lifted their total to 206. At that stage, their innings looked strong and well set for a series-leveling performance. However, their bowlers could not adjust to SuperSport Park’s surface, allowing Reeza Hendricks to dominate from the start. South Africa’s batters made the chase look easier than it should have been, exposing Pakistan’s lack of bowling discipline. For Pakistan, it was another painful lesson that runs on the board mean little if their attack cannot apply sustained pressure.

RSA vs PAK – Poor bowling and low adjust to different surface
Pakistan appeared strong after setting a commanding 206 runs at SuperSport Park. However, their bowling once again let them down badly. Even though extras were reduced from 23 in the first game to 16 this time, the economy rate was still far too high, with multiple bowlers conceding freely. The surface at SuperSport Park provided extra pace and bounce compared to Kingsmead, yet Pakistan failed to adjust their lengths or variations. Their lack of control allowed South Africa’s batters to score at will, turning what should have been a defendable total into a reachable chase. Pakistan can look strong with the bat, but poor bowling continues to undo their efforts.

RSA vs PAK 2024 2nd T20I – Venue History&Analysis: SuperSport Park
Stadium Capacity: Around 22,000 spectators.
Stadium Address: End Street, Die Hoewes, Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa
About the Stadium:
SuperSport Park in Centurion is one of South Africa’s most modern and vibrant cricket venues, renowned for its lively crowds and high-scoring contests. Since becoming a regular international ground in the 1990s, it has hosted major events such as the 2003 Cricket World Cup and the 2009 IPL. The pitch here is known for its true bounce and pace, providing plenty of assistance to fast bowlers early on, yet once batters adjust, the even surface and quick outfield make run-scoring fluent. With its relatively smaller boundaries, the stadium has built a reputation as a place where bowlers must stay disciplined, while power-hitters often thrive in limited-overs cricket.

Beyond the action on the field, SuperSport Park is also admired for its scenic backdrop, with the grassy banks and open-air seating creating a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The blend of modern facilities and natural surroundings makes it a favorite stop for both players and fans during international tours.
