ENG vs IND 4th Test Match:Day 5

Result:Match Drawn.

India and England just gave us a Test match that had everything except a winner. After five drama-packed days in Manchester, both teams walked away with a draw, and we all walked away a little breathless. England, who still lead the series 2-1, looked set to take the win after piling up 669 thanks to centuries from Root and Stokes. But India, at 1 for 2 on day four and trailing by 300+, weren’t ready to fold. Enter Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja, who batted like their lives depended on it. Two monster partnerships, 188 and 203 runs, turned the tide.

By the final session, England were bowling 35mph floaters, and India’s batters were partying in the middle. Gill notched his fourth century of the series, Jadeja and Washington joined him with tons of their own, and Stokes, heroic but hurting, could only watch as the game slipped away. There were tempers, wild field changes, and even stranger bowling, but India’s refusal to give in stole the show. The series finale now heads to The Oval, with India bruised but beaming, and England fuming but still in front. Bring on the decider!

ENG vs IND 4th Test Match:Day 4

Stumps:India trail by 137 runs.

England brought the fireworks to Old Trafford on Day 4, and not just from the bat. Ben Stokes was pure box office, lighting up the ground with a stunning 141 and becoming just the third man in Test history with both 7000 runs and 200 wickets. As if that wasn’t enough, England smashed their way to 699, their fifth-highest ever total, while Brydon Carse and Joe Root chipped in with big knocks too. And just when India needed some breathing room, Chris Woakes crashed the party with two wickets in the opening over of their second innings. England had swagger. India had exhaustion.

But India didn’t back down. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul pulled off a gutsy, wicketless stand after early setbacks left them wobbling at 0 for 2. Gill looked shaky at first but found his rhythm and reached 78*, while Rahul brought vintage cool to the crease, ending the day on 87*. They batted through a tricky pitch and tricky moments to keep India just 137 runs behind, with rain looming on Day 5. With India’s top order digging deep, we might just be in for a grandstand finish.

ENG vs IND 4th Test Match:Day 3

Stumps:England lead by 186 runs.

Joe Root was on fire at Old Trafford, batting like a man on a mission, and what a mission it was! With a flawless 150, he didn’t just give England the edge over India, he rewrote the record books, leapfrogging Dravid, Kallis, and Ponting to become Test cricket’s second-highest run-scorer. Fans soaked up the Manchester sunshine as Root toyed with the bowlers, notching his 38th ton and his 12th against India (a record!). By stumps, England were cruising at 544 for 7, with a juicy 186-run lead and India’s hopes hanging by a thread.

Ben Stokes added to the drama, cramping up mid-knock, hobbling off, then heroically limping back to finish unbeaten on 77, cue crowd roar! Pope played his part too, with a slick 71, and while India had brief sparks thanks to Washington Sundar and Jurel’s quick hands, it was England’s day through and through. Root’s calm thumb raise in response to his milestone said it all: business as usual. With a crumbling pitch and injuries piling up for India, this fourth Test might just be the series clincher.

ENG vs IND 4th Test Match:Day 2

Stumps:England trail by 133 runs.

IndiaEngland
358225/2 (46)

England had themselves a pretty breezy day at Old Trafford, cruising to 225 for 2 by stumps and making India’s 358 look a lot less intimidating. Duckett (94) and Crawley (84) were in cruise control mode, racking up a 166-run stand that didn’t feel like classic Bazball, but still moved at a speedy 5+ runs an over thanks to India’s wayward bowling. It was the kind of day where even mishits found the boundary and frustrated fielders just watched the ball fly by.

India had their hero moment, though, when Rishabh Pant limped down the stairs on a fractured foot like a warrior in body armor, ready to bat when most wouldn’t even walk. He smashed 54 in style, adding grit and drama to an otherwise fading innings. Ben Stokes turned back the clock with a 5-for, reminding everyone why he’s still box office. But unless India can rediscover their edge with the ball soon, England might just waltz past them with a smile and a swagger.

ENG vs IND 4th Test Match:Day 1

Stumps:England chose to field.

IndiaEngland
264/4

India’s day at Old Trafford was more grit than glamour, but it had its moments. Under grey Manchester skies, the visitors ground their way to 264 for 4, thanks largely to patient fifties from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan, in his very first Test at No. 3, showed all the calm of a seasoned pro. KL Rahul looked steady as ever before falling just shy of fifty, while Rishabh Pant sparked some excitement before limping off with what looked like a painful foot injury. Not ideal.

England’s bowlers didn’t exactly set the place alight, but they hung in there, keeping the scoring under control. Stokes’ gamble to bowl first hasn’t paid off yet. A couple of wickets from the ever-dependable Chris Woakes and a surprise strike from comeback kid Liam Dawson gave the home side just enough to cheer. But really, it was a day of slow burns, not fireworks. With the match still delicately poised, Day 2 might finally bring the spark this series deserves.

ENG vs IND 2025 4th Test – Venue: Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground

Stadium Capacity: Approximately 50,000 spectators

Stadium Address: Talbot Rd, Old Trafford, Stretford, Manchester M16 0PX, United Kingdom

Stadium Features: Located in Manchester, England, Old Trafford Cricket Ground was established in 1857 and is the fourth oldest cricket ground in English history. Despite being fourth in terms of establishment, it was actually the second ground in England to host an international Test match-just after The Oval. Like other historic venues, Old Trafford has witnessed many iconic moments in cricket history, including legendary performances by players such as Jim Laker, Sachin Tendulkar, and Shane Warne.

One of the ground’s most unique characteristics is its unpredictable weather. Due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, sudden rain showers are common. As a result, the stadium has undergone several upgrades over the years, including improvements to the drainage system and a reorientation of the pitch from east–west to a more standard north–south direction to minimize the impact of sunlight.
