After a slow start, skipper Shai Hope and Rovman Powell flipped the script in spectacular fashion. The pair put on an unbeaten 83-run stand, smashing sixes for fun in the final overs. Hope stayed cool with 46 not out off 28 balls, while Powell, celebrating his 100th T20I, went berserk with 44 from the same number of deliveries. Bangladesh’s chase started like a nightmare. They were 42 for 4 inside the powerplay, with Akeal Hosein spinning webs and Jason Holder plus Jayden Seales tearing through the middle order. Despite a gritty 33 from Tanzim Hasan and some resistance from Nasum Ahmed, the hosts never truly recovered, eventually folding for 149. BAN vs WI 2025 1st T20I – Different Recent Form, The Story Behind
Fresh off their ODI series, Bangladesh and West Indies now shift focus to the T20Is at MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram. With both sides showing contrasting trends and off-field questions lingering, this clash becomes much harder to call than it appears. Let’s look deeper into their recent performances to uncover where the momentum truly lies.

BAN vs WI – All Wins Against Afghanistan But?
Bangladesh come in high on confidence after a 3-0 sweep over Afghanistan in the UAE. The Tigers showed ferocity, but the scorelines tell a subtler story, as matches were decided with 12, 8, and 5 balls remaining. Afghanistan fought back hard, yet Bangladesh’s composure in pressure moments stood out. With Litton Das recovering from a side strain, Jaker Ali stepped up as captain and still guided the team to victory. Even though his stats was not shined enough to carry the whole team. But adaptability showed Bangladesh are not just winning, but evolving into a side that knows how to survive tense finishes.

BAN vs WI – West Indie’s Got Beaten By Nepal?
On the surface, West Indies’ 2-1 T20I loss to Nepal might look shocking, but the lineup that played was far from full strength. Only four senior players were part of the squad, while the rest were young prospects gaining experience. The result was less about Nepal’s dominance and more about West Indies testing their depth. Still, it revealed one familiar issue, their inconsistency. For the upcoming series, they must show that experience and class can quickly turn the page from that defeat.

BAN vs WI – Head to Head Record of T20I series
Results
Bangladesh Won by 80 runs (2024)
Bangladesh Won by 27 runs (2024)
Bangladesh Won by 7 runs (2024)
West Indies Won by 5 wickets (2022)
West Indies Won by 35 runs (2022)
Bangladesh won the most of the match more recently, showing a much stronger side against West Indies, but we have to take the ICC ranking into account for a better prediction.
BAN vs WI – Trend of the Match
West Indies sit at 6th in the ICC T20I rankings while Bangladesh are 9th, showing a clear gap in position but not necessarily in form. Bangladesh’s recent success and their strong team chemistry give them confidence heading into this match. West Indies, however, face uncertainty over player availability and internal structure. If their key players such as Shai Hope, Brandon King, and Rutherford return to form, they remain a powerful side. But if disorganization persists, Bangladesh’s home energy and rising momentum might be enough to carry them through again, just as they did against Afghanistan. Still, the prediction are slightly tilt to Bangladesh with a better team chemistry.

Stadium Address: Stadium Road, Agrabad, Chattogram, Bangladesh
About the Stadium:
Located in the heart of Chattogram’s bustling port city, MA Aziz Stadium stands as one of Bangladesh’s oldest cricketing landmarks. Established well before modern venues like Mirpur’s Shere Bangla, it has witnessed the country’s cricket evolution from local club battles to international contests. With a capacity of around 20,000, it carries a vintage charm, surrounded by old stands and palm-lined streets that give it a uniquely coastal atmosphere. The crowd here is famously passionate, often creating a festival-like energy that reflects Chattogram’s lively character and the region’s deep love for the game.

Before Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium became the city’s primary international venue, MA Aziz Stadium hosted some of Bangladesh’s earliest Test and ODI matches. It served as a training ground for the country’s cricket foundation, producing countless domestic heroes and memories of historic wins. The stadium’s structure may look modest today, but it holds a special place in the hearts of fans who grew up watching cricket here in the 1980s and 1990s. Even after its international spotlight faded, it remained a hub for local leagues, symbolizing Chattogram’s enduring cricket spirit.
