Updated:Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 7 wickets.

Bangladesh kicked off their T20I series with a bang, thrashing Pakistan by seven wickets in Dhaka! The home side turned on the heat early, bundling out Pakistan for just 110; their first-ever time being bowled out in a T20I. Taskin Ahmed led the charge with 3 wickets, Mustafizur Rahman gave away just 6 runs in 4 overs, and the fielders backed them up with three run-outs. Fakhar Zaman tried to hold it together with a 44-run knock, but Pakistan kept tripping over their own feet. Literally, in Fakhar’s case, who got run out mid-pitch after a slip.
Parvez Hossain Emon lights up the innings with a stylish 50! 🔥📽️

Chasing 111, Bangladesh lost a couple of early wickets, but Parvez Hossain Emon wasn’t having any nerves. He played with flair and freedom, smashing five sixes in a 56* blitz that lit up the Dhaka night. Hridoy chipped in with a steady 36, and despite some fumbles from Pakistan in the field (yes, more dropped catches!), Bangladesh cruised to the target in just 15.3 overs. A dominant all-round show, and a sweet way to start the series!

BAN vs PAK 2025 1st T20I – After being whitewashed in Lahore, can Bangladesh get their revenge at home?
Bangladesh got completely whitewashed by Pakistan in the T20I series played in Lahore during May and June, not managing to win a single game. Some might say it was because the pitch conditions did not favour Bangladesh at all, plus the clear difference in skill levels led to Bangladesh losing all matches. But now that the series shifts back to Bangladesh’s home ground, which suits their style of play better, surely things will be different, right? Well, is it really so simple?
BAN vs PAK – Opposite pitch conditions, does Bangladesh have all the advantage?
To be honest, I still think Bangladesh will find it very hard to beat Pakistan in this series. The best they can hope for is probably a one-nil or one-two kind of result. Yes, many would argue that Bangladesh’s 0-3 loss in Lahore was mainly due to the pitch conditions not supporting their spin bowlers, which is their strength. But you must remember, in any team sport that is not individual based, it’s all about collective effort. Cricket is no exception. To win, the entire team’s quality has to be up to the mark.
Comparing Bangladesh and Pakistan, Bangladesh only clearly outshines Pakistan in the spin bowling department. In other areas like fast bowling, batting and overall international experience, Pakistan has the upper hand. Do you really think Bangladesh can dominate Pakistan just with spin bowling alone?

Furthermore, although the pitch conditions will favour spinners, fast bowlers still play a crucial role especially in the Powerplay overs. Pakistan may have left out Shaheen Afridi this time, but Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah are both in the squad. While Naseem Shah hasn’t played many T20Is against Bangladesh and hasn’t impressed much in those games, he did take a hat-trick against Bangladesh in a Test match. Even if the formats are different, he is young and full of potential. Hasan Ali on the other hand took a total of eight wickets in the three T20I matches against Bangladesh in May-June, averaging 2.67 wickets per game. The numbers speak for themselves.

And that is just the bowling department. On top of that, Pakistan has many powerful batsmen. For example, in the May-June series against Bangladesh, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha scored 56 runs off 34 balls, Sahibzada Farhan scored 74 off 41 balls, and Mohammad Haris remained unbeaten on 107 off 46 balls. Just these players alone give Bangladesh plenty of headaches, not to mention the other equally strong players in the squad. With Pakistan’s varied strategies, Bangladesh will have a tough time coping. So tell me honestly, do you still believe Bangladesh, just because they are back on their home ground, will definitely turn the tables and completely outplay Pakistan?

BAN vs PAK 2025 1st T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Shere Bangla National Stadium
Stadium Capacity: Around 25,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, 1216, 2/3 Mirpur Road, Mirpur 10, Dhaka 1216, Bangladesh
About the Stadium:
The Shere Bangla National Stadium was completed and became operational around the year 1990. Initially, it was conceived as a multi-purpose venue meant primarily for football and athletics, with the intention of reducing the burden on the centrally located Bangabandhu National Stadium. However, in actual practice, the stadium witnessed very limited usage for both football and athletic events. This situation continued for over a decade, until a significant turning point came in the year 2000 when Bangladesh was granted full membership status by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
With this development, there arose an urgent need for a dedicated international-standard cricket venue. The Bangabandhu stadium, being located in the heart of Dhaka and showing signs of age, was no longer deemed suitable for modern cricket requirements. Hence, the Shere Bangla National Stadium came back into focus as a viable alternative.

In the year 2000, following Bangladesh’s elevation to full-member status, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) proposed that the Shere Bangla stadium be converted and upgraded into a cricket-exclusive venue. This proposal was considered more practical and cost-effective, as it avoided the need for constructing a new stadium from scratch. The renovation plan was approved in 2004 and construction work began soon thereafter. By 2006, the transformation was complete, and in the same year, the stadium hosted its very first One Day International (ODI) match. The limited football and athletics activities that previously took place at Shere Bangla were gradually shifted back to the Bangabandhu National Stadium, which continued to serve as the primary venue for those sports in central Dhaka.
