Bangladesh lit up Mirpur with a thrilling eight-run win over Pakistan, sealing their first-ever T20I series victory against their fierce rivals. Despite a shaky start at 28 for 4, Jaker Ali played the rescue hero with a blistering 55, launching sixes into the stands and reviving the innings with help from Mahedi Hasan. Even as Pakistan’s rookie bowlers like Daniyal and Mirza made inroads, Jaker’s fireworks helped Bangladesh post a tricky total of 133.
Victory sealed with purpose. As the final wicket fell, the stadium erupted — a powerful win, dedicated to the souls we carry in our hearts.

Pakistan’s reply was a disaster early on, 15 for 5 inside the powerplay! The top order crumbled like a stale biscuit, but Faheem Ashraf refused to go quietly, blasting his maiden T20I fifty and nearly snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. A few late sixes gave fans hope, but Bangladesh’s pace trio, especially Shoriful Islam, held their nerve. A dropped catch added to the drama, but Mustafizur closed it out in the final over, sealing a historic and hard-fought win for the Tigers.

BAN vs PAK 2025 2nd T20I – Bangladesh may not seal the series in style, but who deserves the spotlight?
As discussed in the previous preview BAN vs PAK 2025 1st T20I – Can Bangladesh turn the tables at Shere Bangla with home advantage? it was always going to be a tall task for Bangladesh to outclass Pakistan even at home. But if you’re looking for someone to keep an eye on, one name stands out: Parvez Hossain Emon.
BAN vs PAK – A glimpse of Bangladesh’s future top-order promise?
Parvez Hossain Emon first broke into the T20I setup in 2022 and made his debut against Zimbabwe. Since then, he has played 12 T20Is, scoring 266 runs at an average of 22.16 with a strike rate hovering around 140. On the surface, those numbers might look modest, but it’s important to remember he’s just 12 games into his international career. To put things in perspective, even a now-established name like Ruturaj Gaikwad had only 212 runs in his first 12 T20Is, with a strike rate of 126.19. When you consider that comparison, it’s easier to understand why Bangladesh rate Emon highly and see him as a potential long-term option at the top of the order.
He already has a half-century and a century to his name, both while opening the batting, which is no small feat for someone still finding his feet on the international stage. True, consistency has been an issue. There have been innings where he has fallen first ball, but that’s not uncommon for a young opener learning the ropes.

What’s perhaps most telling is that all of his 12 T20I appearances have come away from home, often in challenging conditions. Carrying the pressure of opening while never having the comfort of home support is no easy task, yet Emon has shown flashes of temperament and the kind of fearless strokeplay that suggests he has the makings of something special. What he needs now is time, experience, and trust.

In the ongoing series against Pakistan, the opening pair of Emon and Tanzid Hasan is shaping up to be a partnership worth keeping an eye on. Although Emon has opened with Litton Das in the past, recent performances indicate growing chemistry with Tanzid. This was evident in the third T20I in June, where they combined for a 108-run opening stand and Emon scored a fluent fifty. Interestingly, despite playing 12 T20Is so far, Emon has never played a home game. This series marks his debut at Shere Bangla, and with the support of the home crowd and familiar conditions, it could be the beginning of his rise as a future star for Bangladesh.

BAN vs PAK 2025 2nd T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Shere Bangla National Stadium
Stadium Capacity: Around 25,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, 1216, 2/3 Mirpur Road, Mirpur 10, Dhaka 1216, Bangladesh
About the Stadium:
Renovated in 2006 into a full-fledged international venue, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium has since served as the home ground of the Bangladesh national team. It has hosted numerous international fixtures, including the opening match of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and has featured in major tournaments like the Asia Cup, ICC T20 World Cup, and ICC Under-19 World Cup.
Thanks to its regular hosting of top-level matches, the ground has seen several historic moments. One of the most memorable was in 2015, when Bangladesh achieved a 3–0 whitewash over Pakistan in an ODI series, their first-ever series win against them. Another iconic moment came in 2017, when Shakib Al Hasan played a match-winning role in a Test against Australia, helping Bangladesh register their maiden Test victory over the Aussies.

In that match, Shakib scored a resilient 84 off 133 balls, becoming the second batsman after Tamim Iqbal to pass fifty in the innings. He made an even bigger impact with the ball, taking five wickets for 68 runs in the first innings, dismissing the likes of Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell. In the second innings, although he did not contribute significantly with the bat, he once again delivered with the ball. He conceded 85 runs and took another five wickets, including key dismissals of David Warner and Steven Smith.
With a total of 10 wickets in the match, Shakib achieved the rare feat of a Test match haul and was instrumental in securing one of Bangladesh’s most celebrated victories on home soil.
