South Africa stamped their authority in the series opener, crushing Pakistan by 55 runs in a dominant all round display. Reeza Hendricks anchored the innings with a fluent 60, supported by Tony de Zorzi’s 33 and George Linde’s valuable 36 to set up a strong total. Pakistan’s chase never found momentum and folded for 139 in 18.1 overs, undone by South Africa’s relentless attack. Corbin Bosch shone with four wickets at a miserly rate, while Linde’s all round brilliance, 36 runs and three wickets, sealed the visitors’ commanding first win of the three match series.

Babar Azam’s poor run continued as he fell for just two balls, bowled by Bosch who claimed four wickets with a miserly 3.5 economy, while Hendricks capped his day with a match-winning 60 to seal South Africa’s win. Pakistan had few positives, with Saim Ayub’s composed 37 showing promise at the top and Mohammad Nawaz adding 36 runs plus three wickets at 6.5 economy to soften the defeat. Still, Pakistan’s middle order must step up, and Shaheen Shah Afridi needs to lead with the new ball if they are to mount a fightback in the series.

PAK vs RSA 2025 1st T20I – Lost to India, Pakistan Need to Push Themself
Pakistan return to action at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium after a month’s rest since the Asia Cup final. Their campaign showed promise but ended in frustration, with victories over all other teams overshadowed by consecutive defeats to India. Now, against a higher-ranked South African side, the hosts must prove they can rise again on the big stage. South Africa arrive with mixed form, having drawn 1-1 against England and fallen 2-1 to Australia in a closely fought series where one game was decided on the final ball. With both sides looking to stamp their mark, this T20I opener promises high intensity.

PAK vs RSA – South Africa Remain Their Position
South Africa hold the edge in recent meetings, having beaten Pakistan twice in the last year. Reeza Hendricks and David Miller were the key figures, with Hendricks scoring a superb 117 and taking the MVP award in the second game, while Miller’s commanding 82 in the first set up victory. Miller now captains this series, and together with Hendricks, forms a proven partnership that Pakistan’s bowlers must contain. Their track record against Pakistan shows not only consistency but also the ability to dominate under pressure.

PAK vs RSA – Fast Bowler Will be Slaughter Once Again
Rawalpindi is well known for its flat pitch that rewards batters and fast bowlers more than spinners. This works directly in South Africa’s favor, as their pace attack thrives on surfaces that offer bounce and movement with the new ball. Fast seamers like Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, and young Kwena Maphaka all stand to gain from these conditions. Pakistan’s spinners such as Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz, so often their key weapons, may find limited assistance here. For the home side, success will depend on how well their true fast seamers like Shaheen Afridi and can stand up to South Africa’s firepower.

PAK vs RSA – Conclusion
This T20I marks the start of another chapter in Pakistan’s tour and gives both teams a chance to test their depth. Pakistan may look to try out rising stars such as Sahibzada Farhan, who has impressed in domestic cricket, and Wasim Jnr, an all-rounder tipped for the future. South Africa, meanwhile, will use this series as preparation ahead of their India tour in 2025. With conditions favoring pace and South Africa’s batting strength looking superior, the visitors enter as favorites for the opening game. Pakistan, however, will aim to use home support and fresh energy to challenge a powerful opponent, hope Pakistan can rewrite the fate of losing streak from India.
