ZIM vs PAK 2024 1st T20I – The drought came from Muqeem and Ahmed’s 6 wickets which end the inning earlier
Zimbabwe’s cricket has not always been a top-tier in the game, but build up experience will always be important factor for them to gain skills for player and the next direction to take on. However, as the turn to Zimbabwe’s inning started. Pakistan had no mercy on them, only opener Tadiwanashe Marumani and middle starter Sikandar Raza score total 72 runs, Pakistan first choice spinner Sufiyan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed knocked out 6 batters with only 25 balls, left with no hope for Zimbabwe to catch on and lost the game by huge 57 runs.
ZIM vs PAK – 22 runs by 7 players in late overs really turned of the game
The Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo usually favors spin, Abrar Ahmed Sufiyan Muqeem would be perfect for leading the spin attack. This gave Zimbabwe no chance to fight, and once again their batting collapsed badly. Seven of their players combined for just 22 runs, which indicated the serious problem for middle to late orders. Zimbabwe’s weak batting and might also came with Pakistan getting familiar with the stadium. Fans will hope Zimbabwe could learn from this game and come back stronger with the bat in the next games.

ZIM vs PAK – Tahir and Khan seized the late overs to push the runs higher
In the first T20I, Pakistan’s batting looked steady with every player reaching double figures. The openers already scored nearly half of the 165 total, then Tayyab Tahir and Irfan Khan added a quick 56-run stand at the end to close strongly with above-average strike rates. Zimbabwe couldn’t match that consistency, struggling for partnerships and failing to keep pace with the required rate. With their bowlers also keeping things tight, Pakistan showed perfect balance in batting and bowling to seal an easy win for 1-0 lead in the series.

ZIM vs PAK – Pakistan’s consistent grabbed the first lead in series
Before this T20I clash, Zimbabwe and Pakistan had already faced each other in a recent ODI series. The result was not a clean 3-0 sweep but a 2-1 victory for Pakistan. Interestingly, Pakistan dropped the first game as they were still adjusting to the time difference and stadium conditions, but once settled, they bounced back strongly with two consecutive wins. This shows that once Pakistan became familiar with the opposition and pitch conditions, their performance level rises quickly. Going into the T20Is, this trend makes Pakistan’s strength more reasonable, and if Zimbabwe fields a similar squad, Pakistan will likely continue their good form.

ZIM vs PAK 2024 1st T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Queen’s Sports Club
Stadium Capacity: Around 9,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Parkview, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
About the Stadium:
Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo is one of Zimbabwe’s most iconic cricket venues, often called the home of cricket outside of Harare. Nestled in the heart of the city, it is surrounded by jacaranda trees that bring a picturesque charm, making it among the most scenic places to enjoy the game. Though the stadium is relatively small compared to larger arenas worldwide, its intimacy creates a special atmosphere where fans feel close to the action—almost as if they are part of the match itself.

Over the decades, Queen’s Sports Club has hosted several memorable results for Zimbabwe, including their famous World Cup win over India in 1999 and victories against teams like Bangladesh and Pakistan in the 2000s. Even in shorter formats, the ground has witnessed upsets such as the 2018 T20I triumph over Australia. These moments show how Zimbabwe often find an extra gear in Bulawayo, making it a venue where visiting heavyweights like Pakistan must adapt quickly to avoid surprises. Ant yet, Pakistan seem to adopt well in here since the previous ODI series.
