Ending the losing drought!! Afghanistan finally stop the recent losing trend, as we predicted, Afghanistan did collect one must win from Zimbabwe, more importantly, with ease and the casualty to win the first game of the series. Ibrahim Zadran being the one of best batting force when then team needs him. Half century, in just 33 balls was powerful, Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s 4 wickets was one of the amazing performances, 2 in the open 2 in the late overs. Mujeeb really made you think he was there for the wickets all the time. Afghanistan deserves this win and will take on next one with the same victory.
𝐀𝐅𝐆𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐍! 🙌
Afghanistan, banking on bowling heroics from @Mujeeb_R88 (4/20), @AzmatOmarzay (3/29) and Abdullah Ahmadzai (2/20), bundled out the home side for 127 and won the first T20I by 53 runs. 👏👏#AfghanAtalan | #AFGvZIM |… pic.twitter.com/1yQkD6QNzq

After the wave settles, who stands firm and who falters becomes clear, and right now Zimbabwe are struggling to stay afloat. Despite coming into the match with five straight wins, their form cracked once they faced a stronger opponent. The unstable top order exposed their weakness early, collapsing between 1.2 and 2.5 overs as they lost four wickets, including their captain, for just a single run combined. Afghanistan’s bowlers were ruthless, with Azmatullah Omarzai taking three wickets and Mujeeb Ur Rahman claiming four, completely bowling Zimbabwe out of the contest. To even compete in the next game, Zimbabwe will need to work much harder, both with bat and ball.
Zimbabwe go down by 53 runs to Afghanistan in the first of three T20Is.

ZIM vs AFG 2025 1st T20I – Afghanistan’s Darkness Finally Comes to End
After the one-off Test, we mentioned that Afghanistan’s fragile form could give Zimbabwe a chance, but in the shorter format, everything shifts. It may sound unusual to predict Afghanistan winning in Harare after losing five straight T20Is while Zimbabwe have won their last five. Yet the situation deserves a deeper look. The first game at Harare Sports Club could mark the turning point for the visitors.

ZIM vs AFG – It Was All Close Games
Afghanistan’s early exit from the Asia Cup, losing to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh while only beating Hong Kong, left them searching for momentum. Their following series against Bangladesh in the UAE brought more heartbreak. Each defeat came with only a few balls remaining, proving that Afghanistan were not outclassed, only out of luck. The team’s structure and fighting spirit were still visible, even when results slipped away. After a spell of darkness, this might finally be the time for Afghanistan to rise again and reclaim their identity against a lower-ranked opponent.
ZIM vs AFG – Afghanistan’s Last 5 Matches
| Games |
| Bangladesh won by 6 wickets (with 12 balls remaining) |
| Bangladesh won by 2 wickets (with 5 balls remaining) |
| Bangladesh won by 4 wickets (with 8 balls remaining) |
| Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining) |
| Bangladesh won by 8 runs |
ZIM vs AFG – Zimbabwe in Good Form, Really?
Zimbabwe’s five consecutive T20I wins in the ICC T20 World Cup Africa Region series sound impressive on paper, including their final triumph over Namibia. However, Namibia rank fifteenth, and Zimbabwe, sitting at eleventh, were expected to win comfortably. Even in the final, they barely crossed the line with only four balls to spare. The winning streak surely builds confidence, but the level of opposition makes it hard to compare that form with Afghanistan’s experience against stronger teams. Momentum is there, yet the challenge ahead is on another level.

| Country | Rank(By 2025/10) |
| Namibia | 15 |

ZIM vs AFG – Real Contenders Will Shine
Looking back at their head-to-head record, Afghanistan have dominated with five wins from six meetings, and Zimbabwe’s lone success came from a last-ball thriller. Every previous T20I series between them in Harare went Afghanistan’s way. With Rashid Khan returning to lead the side, his leg-break and googly variations will again test Zimbabwe’s composure. The Snow Leopards know this ground well and have thrived here before. The opening game could start cautiously, but history and strength point toward Afghanistan making the hunt for the sable antelope successful once more.

ZIM vs AFG 2025 1st T20I – Venue History&Analysis: Harare Sports Club
Stadium Capacity: Around 10,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Fifth Street Extension, Harare, Zimbabwe
About the Stadium:
Set high in altitude, Harare Sports Club carries a crispness in the air that quickens every sound and movement. When the jacaranda trees bloom, purple petals line the pathways to the stands, painting one of cricket’s most scenic walks. The crowd here mixes families, students, and veterans, their songs echoing through the old pavilions. Street food vendors fill the air with the aroma of maize and roasted meat, and the energy builds slowly into a festival of rhythm and sport. Few venues capture the blend of warmth and competition quite like this one.

The pitch itself mirrors the balance of the city, measured and unpredictable at once. Mornings bring swing and cautious batting, while afternoons invite runs as the surface eases. Captains read the wind and grass color closely, adjusting slips and midwickets to shifting patterns. Wrist spinners can thrive in the middle overs, and those who bowl cutters off the seam find late movement. Chase totals are possible but rarely simple, and matches here test mental strength as much as skill.
