Sylhet Strikers History
The Sylhet Strikers squad made its debut in the BPL 2012 season, but at that time, the team was not known by its current name; they were called Sylhet Royals. In the early years, the team did not make much of an impact in the BPL. Over the course of ten years, they only reached the playoffs once. After a one-year absence in 2016, the team returned to the BPL under the new name Sylhet Sixers. After another change in ownership, the team became the Sylhet Strikers team that we know today in 2023. That year, they achieved an astonishing performance, finishing first on the points table and making it to the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. They fought their way through the competition and reached the final, where they faced the Comilla Victorians. However, the Strikers lost the match by 7 wickets, finishing as runners-up. Although it was a disappointing result, for all members of the Sylhet Strikers squad, this match was undoubtedly the most significant in the team’s history, as it marked their first-ever appearance in a final and brought them closest to the championship trophy.
