Dhaka Capitals History
The Dhaka Capitals history can be traced back to the inaugural season of the BPL. The team was originally known as the Dhaka Gladiators and astonished fans early in the BPL league by winning the championship twice in a row (2012 and 2013). However, they didn’t win the championship easily. The Dhaka Capitals squad was not well-regarded at first, and their initial performance was disappointing as they lost to the Shakib Al Hasan-led Khulna Royal Bengals team. Shortly after the 2013 season ended, the team was dissolved due to a change in ownership and was subsequently renamed the Dhaka Dynamites.

Most Successful BPL Team
Despite going through numerous ownership changes and several name changes, the Dhaka Capitals team can be considered the most successful team in the BPL. They have won the championship three times, reached the finals five times, and made it to the playoffs seven times. Such achievements are quite rare and difficult in the BPL.

No Consisten Success
The Dhaka Capitals team wasn’t always victorious. They had heart-breaking seasons as well. For instance, in 2024, despite having star players like Taskin Ahmed and signing several talented players from home and abroad such as Saim Ayub and Adam Rossington, the team faced a disastrous season. After winning their opening match against the Comilla Victorians, they shockingly suffered 11 consecutive losses.
