Heinrich Klaasen, promoted to No.3, smacked 67 runs from 31 balls while Aiden Markram (32*) and Abdul Samad (37*) gave the finishing touches. They hit as many as 22 sixes while scoring 19 fours. Despite posting a humongous total, they had to work hard to secure a win by 25 runs, in which a total of 549 runs were scored, setting up an IPL record score in a game. The Orange Army broke their record of 277 for 3 against Mumbai Indians at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad earlier in the competition.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
272 for 7 against Delhi Capitals (2024)
Kolkata Knight Riders’ top team score in IPL history is 272 for 7 against Delhi Capitals at Visakhapatnam on April 3rd, 2024. Explosive half-centuries from Sunil Narine (85) and young lad Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54) gave a solid head start as the duo stitched a 104-run stand for the 2nd wicket in quick succession. Later brutal assault from Andre Russell (41) and Rinku Singh (26) powered them to a colossal 272, which stands as the 3rd all-time highest team score in IPL history. They earned a smooth victory later in the game, thanks to disciplined bowling performances from Varun Chakravarthy (3), Vaibhav Arora (3), and Mitchell Starc (2).
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
263 for 5 against Pune Warriors (2013)
Royal Challengers Bengaluru held the record of top team score in IPL for 11 long years before Sunrisers Hyderabad broke it against them at the very M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 17th edition. Chris Gayle’s dazzling 175* from 66 balls helped RCB to post their highest team score in IPL history. 263 for 5 against Pune Warriors back in 2013 was the highest score in IPL by a team at that time. Universe Boss didn’t show any mercy on the weakened Pune Warriors bowling attack, smashing them everywhere, hitting 13 fours and 17 sixes. Following his spectacular batting exhibition, he was adjudged the Player of the Match. After combined bowling efforts, RCB restricted the Warriors to 133 for 9, winning it by a whopping 130-run margin.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
262 for 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders (2024)
262 for 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders was Punjab Kings’ highest team score in IPL history. They entered the record books by posting the joint-highest score in IPL by a team while chasing. Punjab Kings attained this feat on 26th April 2024 against Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Jonny Bairstow’s cracking unbeaten 108* from 48 balls and Shashank Singh’s explosive 68* from 28 balls guided them to one of the greatest victories in the IPL history as they chased down a massive 261 with 8 balls to spare. They were unstoppable throughout the innings in the second half, smashing 24 sixes and 15 fours in total. Englishman Jonny Bairstow, who remained unbeaten (108*) in Punjab King’s IPL record score was declared the Player of the Match.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
257 for 4 against Mumbai Indians (2024)
Even Delhi Capitals aren’t left behind in the run-making process as they are the latest entrant to join the 250-run club in 2024, joining the likes of other four teams Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings. They owned their record of highest team score in IPL history, posting 257 for 4 against mighty Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27th, 2024, where they won closely by 10 runs. Jake Fraser McGurk gave them a blistering start, hammering 84 runs in 27 balls, and merciless striking from their overseas batters Shai Hope (41*) and Tristan Stubbs (48*) took them over the 250-run mark. Rasikh Salam (3 wickets), Mukesh Kumar (3 wickets), and Khaleel Ahmed (2 wickets) gave their best as Delhi Capitals emerged victorious after posting their IPL record score.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
257 for 5 against Punjab Kings (2023)
Lucknow Super Giants registered their highest team score in IPL history piling up 257 for 5 against Punjab Kings on April 28th, 2023, at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium. Kyle Mayers gave a staggering start, scoring 54 runs from 24 balls, and later impressive striking from Marcus Stoinis (72) and Nicholas Pooran (45) driving them to their top team score in IPL. Super Giants easily secured a 56-run win in the end. They used as many as 9 bowlers in the innings, where Yash Thakur ( 4 wickets) and Naveen ul Haq (3 wickets) stood out. They became the 6th team in the history of the IPL to score more than 250 runs in an innings.
Mumbai Indians (MI)
247 for 9 against Delhi Capitals (2024)
Mumbai Indians’ IPL record score of 247 for 9, unfortunately, ended up on the losing side as they fell short of 10 runs against Delhi Capitals in the 17th edition of the IPL. Despite successfully achieving their highest team score, they weren’t able to cross the finishing mark although their record stayed for some more years. Tilak Varma (63), Hardik Pandya (46), and Tim David (37) played their hearts out but only ended up on the losing side. The game witnessed multiple records being broken, where both Delhi and Mumbai attained their respective top team score in IPL.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
246 for 5 against Rajasthan Royals (2010)
Chennai Super Kings were ultra-aggressive back in those times when IPL was on the rise. In the 3rd edition (2010), MS Dhoni led side, gathered a mammoth 246 for 5 against Rajasthan Royals on April 3rd at Chepauk, and eventually won the contest by 23 runs. Murali Vijay’s breathtaking 127 runs from 56 balls will go down as one of the best knocks, his innings featured 8 fours and 11 sixes. Albie Morkel, played a second fiddle to Murali Vijay in CSK’s IPL record score, adding 62 runs from 34 balls. Later in the game, the bowlers overcame the mind-boggling knocks from Naman Ojha (94*) and Shane Watson (60) to limit the Royals to 223 for 5.

Gujarat Titans have registered their IPL record score of 233 for 3 during the 2023 season against Mumbai Indians at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. Shubman Gill led the charge at the venue where he likes to bat, scoring a splendid 129 in 60 balls. He got useful support from Sai Sudharsan (43) and Hardik Pandya (28*). In the second half, it was all the bowler’s dominance where Mohit Sharma, claiming his maiden 5-fer in only 14 deliveries bowled as a result, they bowled Mumbai Indians out for 171.
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
226 for 6 against Kings XI Punjab (2020)
Rajasthan Royals’ highest team score in IPL history is 226 for 6, which was against Kings XI Punjab in 2020 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Royals had the last laugh as they propelled home, chasing a mammoth 223 with 3 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand. Steven Smith (50) and Sanju Samson’s (85) next level striking put them well ahead in the run-chase and they required the right kind of finish which came through Rahul Tewatia, who scored 53 runs from 31 balls. Despite struggling at the start, Tewatia hit 5 sixes in an over of Sheldon Cottrell to win it for the Royals. 226 for 6 is the Rajasthan Royals IPL record score.
