As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 retention deadline of November 15 approaches, all franchises, including the Gujarat Titans (GT), have major work chalked out. In less than a month, the GT released players list will be out in the public domain. The 2025 edition saw the Titans winning nine out of 14 games in the league stage to qualify for the playoffs. However, the Shubman Gill-led side lost to the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator, bringing an end to their impressive campaign. Let’s discuss some of the players who are likely to be part of the 2026 GT released players list.

Potential Players to Be Released by Gujarat Titans
Despite the Gujarat Titans doing well in IPL 2025, there were a few question marks predominantly around the potency of their middle-order batters. The top three of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler dominated the opposition, leaving the middle-order untested on most occasions. As a result, the Titans may let go of a couple of their middle-order batters in their bid to fill the only gap ahead of the IPL 2026 auction in December. Here are the five players who could have a presence in the 2026 GT released players list.

Glenn Phillips
Role: All-rounder (New Zealand)
New Zealand batting all-rounder Glenn Phillips is a gun fielder and a proper slogger across all formats of the game. He has also contributed with the ball in the international circuit, and is a valuable commodity for his respective captains. However, Phillips is also prone to injuries, which have affected his career on a few occasions. Early in the IPL 2025 season, he was ruled out of the remaining games due to a groin injury.

Although the right-hander held an average of 62 in the Major League Cricket 2025, he sustained a groin injury during the final. As a result, he was ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour and the home series against Australia. With frequent injury concerns and the availability of Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips might headline the GT released players list.

Ishant Sharma
Role: Fast bowler (India)
Veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma was picked up by the Gujarat Titans for his base price of INR 75 lakhs in the IPL 2025 auction. However, Sharma failed to live up to the expectations of the team management. The 37-year-old finished IPL 2025 on a dismal note, taking only four wickets in seven games at an economy of 11.18 and an average of 51.25. He was mostly used as an Impact Substitute, but failed to inject energy into the Titans’ unit.

As a result, Sharma was dropped from the XI in the business end of the cash-rich league. Moreover, his last competitive appearance came in May against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With the presence of Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma is not likely to get an opportunity as a starter in the next edition. Hence, it is likely that his stint with the Gujarat Titans could get over ahead of the mini-auction.

Karim Janat
Role: All-rounder (Afghanistan)
Afghanistan all-rounder Karim Janat made his IPL debut for the Titans against the Rajasthan Royals. He was expected to fetch boundaries in the slog overs and also be a useful contributor with the ball.

However, Janat could not get an opportunity to showcase his ball-striking abilities. Meanwhile, young prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi smoked him for 30 runs in the first over, en route to his sensational hundred. As a result, Karim Janat was dropped from the XI and could not make a comeback in the remaining games. He is guaranteed to be part of the 2026 GT released players list.

Gerald Coetzee
Role: All-rounder (South Africa)
The talented South African all-rounder, Gerald Coetzee, received significant interest in the IPL 2025 auction, as he was snapped up by the Gujarat Titans for INR 2.4 crore.

Coetzee played four games in IPL 2025 and picked only two wickets at an expensive economy of 10.91 and a horrendous average of 65.50. His mantra to deliver balls with optimum pace misfired, as the batters were able to score runs freely against him. Notably, Gerald Coetzee played a key role in the franchise snatching a thrilling victory over the Mumbai Indians, as they needed 15 runs off the last over. However, this lone performance is not expected to help him secure a retention from the Titans.

Sherfane Rutherford
Role: Middle-order batter (West Indies)
West Indies pinch hitter, Sherfane Rutherford, was inducted into the Gujarat Titans roster, primarily due to his match-winning abilities, as witnessed in the 2024 T20 World Cup game against New Zealand. Rutherford did well to soak up the pressure for the Titans in case of early dismissals of the top-order batters. He also impressed with his six-hitting acumen to drive the team’s run rate. The southpaw garnered 291 runs in 11 innings at an average of 32.33 and a strike rate of 157.29.

However, there were occasions when Sherfane Rutherford failed to garner consistent boundaries, which resulted in the Titans losing a few games. With the presence of Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, and Washington Sundar in the middle-order, Rutherford might make an entry to the list of 2026 GT released players.
