NZ vs WI 1st ODI – Match Result
Updated:New Zealand beat West Indies by 7 runs.
| New Zealand | West Indies |
| 269/7 | 262/6 |
New Zealand pulled off another tight, hard-earned ODI win, proving once again that no surface is too tricky when the Black Caps lock in. Hagley Oval offered sideways movement, uneven pace, and a whole lot of trouble for both sides, yet New Zealand managed the conditions just a little better. Their quicks used the lights perfectly, dragging West Indies deep into a slow grind, and despite a late push from Rutherford, the chase always felt a few gears behind. It mirrors the T20I series story, New Zealand handling the chaos smarter, tougher, and calmer.
Over the line in Christchurch! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us tonight 🫶

Daryl Mitchell produced a monster innings, battling a two-paced pitch, a disciplined attack, and eventually his own groin injury, yet still smashing a match-winning 119 off 118. He walked in when New Zealand were wobbling and flipped the entire momentum with fearless strokeplay, clever tempo changes, and sheer heart. Even after he pulled up injured, he just stood tall and launched straight hits like a machine. It was vintage Mitchell, power, grit, timing, and a roar that said everything. New Zealand simply don’t win this game without him.
All smiles for tonight’s ANZ Player of the Match, centurion Daryl Mitchell! 😁😁😁#NZvWIN
