NZ vs ENG 2025 2nd ODI – Match Result
Updated:New Zealand beat England by 5 wickets.
| New Zealand | England |
| 177/5(33.1) | 175(36) |
Losing only five wickets and finishing the chase in fewer overs, New Zealand outclassed England completely. England’s top order once again failed to deliver; their batting averages look strong on paper, but the results continue to disappoint. Even captain Harry Brook, the hero of the previous match with a century, managed only 34 this time. The rest of the opens followed suit, offering little resistance. When the lower order tried to recover, Blair Tickner ended their hopes with four decisive wickets. New Zealand dominated from start to finish, sealing a comfortable 2-0 series victory over England. Looking forward 3-0 as well.

Not the performance we wanted, even the official saying that. England’s ODI cricket is not good as usual for quite a while, losing the first game then losing the second. No one going over 50s, and can’t even make it to 40 overs. Their captain, Harry Brook managing to a century in the 1st, but none of that can help the team seize the win if other openers fell for the early wickets with poor runs, this game showed the same issue. will the England came back with at least a win? Hard to say, the momentum and the true strength is not something will pop out when they need it. Not to say it is now New Zealand’s home.
Not the performance we wanted with the bat.

NZ vs ENG 2025 2nd ODI – Lions Lost its Shape Recently?
Before we walk into the second match, England’s recent form shows clear signs of inconsistency. Unlike New Zealand’s strong 3-0 sweep over Pakistan, England suffered a 2-1 defeat at home against South Africa. Many expected England to dominate that series with ease, even after losing the opening game. They bounced back with a record-breaking 342-run win, but it felt more like South Africa had relaxed after sealing the series. England’s batting power is unquestionable, yet their inability to maintain rhythm has been one of the key reasons behind their sharp decline in ODI rankings.

NZ vs ENG – Less Tilted, New Zealand’s Spin Trio Go Off?
As the second match shifts to Seddon Park, conditions should be more balanced for both batters and bowlers compared to Bay Oval. England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer may not find the same bounce and rhythm he enjoyed earlier, which gives New Zealand’s top order an opportunity to build solid runs if they survive the early spell. More importantly, New Zealand’s spin trio, captain Mitchell Santner, all rounder Rachin Ravindra, and off spinner Michael Bracewell, can finally come into play. The surface in Hamilton offers gradual turn later in the innings, giving the spinners a real chance to influence the game’s outcome.

NZ vs ENG – England Lacking Of?
England’s current lineup is missing key all rounders who once brought balance to the side. Moeen Ali, who took four wickets against New Zealand in the 2023 series, has retired from international cricket. Liam Livingstone, another valuable all rounder who scored 38 runs and took two wickets in that same series, has not been selected this time. Without these steady performers, England look less sharp than usual, relying heavily on Harry Brook’s leadership and composure to restore competitiveness. Their bench depth remains strong, but the lack of proven match finishers and spin options could again expose their middle overs.

NZ vs ENG – A Home Win in Coming
NZ vs ENG 2025 2nd ODI – Venue History&Analysis: Seddon Park, Hamilton
Stadium Capacity: Around 10,000 spectators
Stadium Address: Seddon Road, Hamilton Central, Hamilton, New Zealand
About the Stadium:
Seddon Park is one of New Zealand’s most scenic cricket grounds, known for its circular shape, grassy banks, and intimate viewing angles that make fans feel close to the action. Located in the heart of Hamilton, it carries a relaxed, open-air charm that contrasts with the city’s calm pace. The venue has hosted Tests and limited-overs matches since the late 1980s, witnessing some of the Black Caps’ most memorable home performances. Its natural beauty, warm crowd, and fair playing surface make it a staple of New Zealand’s cricket calendar and a favorite among both players and spectators.

The pitch at Seddon Park is considered balanced but slightly less tilted toward batting compared to other New Zealand venues like Bay Oval. While seamers can find movement early with the new ball under humid conditions, the surface often settles into a steady rhythm that encourages both batting and spin bowling. The soil composition here allows the pitch to dry gradually, bringing New Zealand’s left-arm orthodox spinners, such as Mitchell Santner or Rachin Ravindra, into play during the middle overs. It’s one of the few Kiwi grounds where spin can genuinely influence outcomes late in the innings, giving the home side an extra tactical edge.
