Peshawar Zalmi History
In the first edition of the PSL, the Peshawar Zalmi team had a somewhat average performance, finishing third in the league. However, in the following year (2017), the defending champions Islamabad United team were unexpectedly eliminated in the first playoff match. The final was held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, marking the return of cricket to Pakistan for the first time after the 2009 Sri Lanka team attack, and the Yellow Storm was ready to make noise on the ultimate stage.

First PSL Title in 2017
In the 2017 PSL final, Quetta Gladiators opted to bowl first, and Peshawar Zalmi squad’s innings struggled early on. Despite a solid start from Kamran Akmal (40), the Zalmi batting lineup faltered, with only captain Darren Sammy (28*) managing to accelerate in the final overs. His two sixes helped them reach a competitive total of 151. Quetta’s chase quickly unraveled as their top order collapsed, leaving them at a dismal 30/4. Despite a valiant 20 from Sarfaraz Ahmed, Quetta were bowled out for just 90, giving Yellow Storm a dominant 58-run victory to claim their first PSL title in Peshawar Zalmi history.

First Victory, Second is Tougher
After their stunning victory in 2017, the Peshawar Zalmi squad almost made it to the playoffs every year but always found it difficult to lift the championship trophy again. In 2018, they came close to achieving a title defense, but it ultimately turned into a disappointing story, as they lost by 3 wickets to one of the most successful teams in PSL history, Islamabad United.
Peshawar Zalmi Team:Stir Up the Yellow Storm

For Yellow Storm, consistently making it to the playoffs every year is a testament to the team’s strength, though what they might be lacking is perhaps luck. Under the leadership of star player Babar Azam, what kind of storm will the Peshawar Zalmi squad create on the field? Let’s wait and see.
