Rishabh Pant’s performance in IPL 2025 has been underwhelming, to say the least, and fans aren’t holding back. With just 106 runs in nine games, Rishabh Pant’s runs in IPL 2025 are nowhere near what you’d expect from someone carrying a ₹27 crore price tag.
Big bucks were spent on Rishabh Pant, but the impact has been underwhelming in IPL 2025. 💸😵#IPL2025 #LSGvDC #RishabhPant pic.twitter.com/3vUTpsJwur

To make matters worse, the LSG 2025 captain walked in at No. 7 against Delhi Capitals and got out for a two-ball duck. That move, along with the constant shuffling in the batting order, didn’t sit well with fans. Many are questioning the call and think the LSG 2025 captain needs to take some accountability for the team’s disappointing loss on April 22.

Rishabh Pant’s Performance in IPL 2025

Pant in IPL 2025 has definitely raised some eyebrows. With only 106 runs across nine games for the Lucknow Super Giants, it’s clear he’s far from the kind of form fans were hoping for. To put it bluntly, Rishabh Pant’s runs in IPL 2025 don’t exactly scream “match-winner.” He kicked off the season with a duck against Delhi Capitals and, in a twist of irony, got another zero against them on April 22.
#LSG and #DC gave us a nail-biter the last time out 😮
But trust @RishabhPant17 and @imkuldeep18 to lighten the mood 😉

So far, it’s been a rough ride for the LSG 2025 captain. In eight innings, he’s got five single-digit scores and only managed to cross double digits three times. His best showing? A 63 against Chennai Super Kings, but even that came off 49 balls with a strike rate of just 128.57. Sure, he hit four boundaries and four sixes, but it wasn’t exactly game-changing stuff.
What kind of Revenge Rishabh pant has taken from his ex team 😭

It’s a sharp drop from what we saw in IPL 2024, where he was on fire for Delhi Capitals — racking up 466 runs in just 13 games at a blazing strike rate of 155.40. He had three fifties back then, including a classy unbeaten 88. Naturally, fans expected him to bring that same heat to Lucknow this season. But looking at Rishabh Pant’s performance in IPL 2025, it’s safe to say he’s fallen short, and a lot of fans are feeling pretty disappointed.
Pant’s 3 Problems in IPL 2025
1. Inconsistent Batting Positioning
Pant batted at No.4 during Lucknow Super Giants’ season opener against Delhi Capitals, but was dismissed on zero after facing six balls. He continued batting at No.4 for the next three matches before not coming out to bat against Kolkata Knight Riders. Rishabh Pant’s runs in IPL 2025 do not do justice to his reputation.

The LSG 2025 captain opened the innings against the Gujarat Titans and scored a slow 21 off 18 balls before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna. He returned to the fourth position against Chennai Super Kings and scored his maiden half-century in IPL 2025.

Pant batted at No. 4 against the Rajasthan Royals but came out to bat at No.7 against the Delhi Capitals in the home fixture. Aiden Markram opened the innings with Mitchell Marsh, while Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad and David Miller were the next three batters to come out at the crease.

Lucknow Super Giants called in impact player Ayush Badoni at No.6, replacing Mitchell Marsh. Rishabh Pant demoted him down the order. He came to bat at No.7 and was bowled off Mukesh Kumar’s bowling, facing his second ball. The captain and the management’s decision to send the LSG batter to bat at No.7 left fans fuming and confused.

2. Poor Captaincy Decisions
Pant’s captaincy errors were highlighted during the first game against Delhi Capitals when he decided to bowl Ravi Bishnoi and Prince Yadav ahead of Shardul Thakur, who had picked up two wickets in two overs. The Super Giants lost the match due to poor bowling choices in crunch situations.

Lucknow Super Giants have played with only five bowlers in multiple games and have lacked extra bowling options to support their bowling attack. They have been forced to give all bowlers their full quota of four overs each, irrespective of the pitch and their bowling performances.

3. Over-Reliance on Underperforming Bowlers
What’s worse, Pant has favoured bowling his best bowlers, despite the batters having belted them for plenty of runs. He chose not to bowl to the in-form players.

In the match against Chennai Super Kings, Ravi Bishnoi bowled three overs and conceded 18 runs, while Shardul Thakur bowled four overs and was hit for 56 runs. He also chose Prince Yadav over Ravi Bishnoi against the Rajasthan Royals, but managed to pull off a marginal two-run victory.
Playoff Hopes Still Alive for LSG

Despite Rishabh Pant’s performance in IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants have a strong chance of making it to the IPL 2025 playoffs. They are currently placed sixth in the IPL 2025 points table with 10 points from nine matches, including five wins and four losses. The Super Giants would need three wins in their next five matches to secure a place in the IPL 2025 playoffs.

They will play their next match against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday (April 27) at the Wankhede Stadium. LSG will play their remaining matches against Punjab Kings (May 4), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (May 9), Gujarat Titans (May 14) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 18).
