Defending champions RCB are suddenly looking every bit like a side ready for another title run. The middle overs were where the game properly tilted. Kohli continued rotating strike cleverly and reached another half-century, while also crossing 500 runs for the season yet again. But the real surprise package was Venkatesh Iyer. Coming into the side with Rajat Patidar unavailable, he initially looked rusty, crawling to 15 off 14 balls. Then suddenly the gears changed.

One over from Brar shifted everything. Iyer launched two clean sixes, started attacking the spin match-ups aggressively, and from there PBKS completely lost control of the scoring rate. RCB eventually piled up 222 for 4, and that total carried extra significance because Punjab have now conceded 200-plus totals nine times this season. For a team that once looked unbeatable, that bowling record explains a lot about their collapse.
PBKS Collapse Yet Again
The chase needed a fearless start. Instead, PBKS produced another horror powerplay. The PBKS vs RCB match result was effectively shaped inside the opening four overs. At 19 for 3, Punjab were already chasing the game rather than the target. To their credit, Cooper Connolly and Suryansh Shedge tried counterattacking. Hazlewood leaked a few boundaries, and for a brief spell the crowd sensed momentum changing. But RCB kept finding timely breakthroughs. Romario Shepherd broke one partnership, Suyash Sharma removed Shedge, and suddenly PBKS were five down with the asking rate spiralling.

The only genuine resistance came from Shashank Singh. His 56 off 27 balls was probably the brightest personal moment for Punjab all evening. He attacked Suyash with three sixes in one over and even muscled Bhuvneshwar over cow corner with a superb helicopter-style finish. But the problem was that the required rate had already climbed beyond control.

That is why the PBKS vs RCB match result felt slightly harsher than the final margin suggested. Punjab finished on 199 for 8, only 23 runs short, yet the contest rarely felt truly alive after the early collapse.

What Happens to Punjab Kings Now?
The worrying thing for PBKS is that qualification is no longer fully in their own hands. After watching PBKS vs RCB highlights, they remain stuck on 13 points with only one league match left against Lucknow Super Giants. The equation itself is simple at first glance: PBKS must beat LSG. If they lose, they are out immediately. But even victory may not guarantee anything.

Because they can now only finish on a maximum of 15 points, Punjab need other results to go their way as well. Teams like Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are still hovering around the playoff race, and a couple of wins elsewhere could push PBKS out of the top four entirely.

Another major blow is that Punjab can no longer finish in the top two. A few weeks ago they genuinely looked capable of dominating the league stage, but after six straight defeats, that possibility has vanished. Even if they somehow scrape through, their route to the title becomes far more difficult because they would likely need to win the Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the Final consecutively.
