Gujarat Titans (GT) came into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction after retaining 20 players, which formed the core part of the side. As a result, there were only five GT buys in IPL 2026 auction, as they completed their quota of 25 players.

Near-Complete Titans
The Titans qualified for the playoffs in 2025, before losing to the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. Thus, they had an impressive campaign, and the roster didn’t need a major overhaul. Interestingly, GT’s Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna were the Orange Cap and Purple Cap holders, respectively. Let’s take a look at the new additions to the GT 2026 players list and how they can help the side in the upcoming edition.

Jason Holder
The veteran West Indies all-rounder, Jason Holder, was bought by the Titans for INR 7 crore. It marks Holder’s return to the IPL after a gap of three years. In 46 IPL games, he has bagged 53 wickets and scored 259 runs. In 327 T20s, Holder has bagged 346 wickets and garnered 3,142 runs, which is a testament to his experience and impressive track record. With GT releasing overseas all-rounders, Holder can fill in their place perfectly and serve as a finisher to the side. He can also handle the new ball and can contain the batters in the middle overs.

Tom Banton
The hard-hitting batter, Tom Banton was picked up at his base price of INR 2 crore. He possesses an experience of 200 T20 games, where he has garnered 4,895 runs, at a strike rate of 142.83, with four centuries and 25 fifties. Banton’s addition to the 2026 GT squad provides an option to give rest to Jos Buttler, as he can also act as a keeper-batter. The 27-year-old could be adjusted in the middle order or as a finisher due to his flexibility.

Ashok Sharma
Rajasthan pacer Ashok Sharma came into the limelight during the 2025-26 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 22 wickets at an economy of 9.25, with best figures of 4/16. As a result, Sharma was included in the GT 2026 players list at the price of INR 90 lakh. However, he is not expected to be a starter due to the presence of Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada.

Luke Wood
The left-arm pacer, Luke Wood, was another addition to the 2026 GT squad for his base price of INR 75 lakh. Wood holds the ability to secure breakthroughs with the new ball and nail yorkers in the death overs. Wood has bagged 213 wickets in 201 T20 appearances at an economy of 8.40. However, it will be interesting to see whether he can play along with Kagiso Rabada in the XI or needs to wait for the opportunity.

Prithviraj Yarra
The left-arm pacer from Andhra Pradesh, Prithviraj Yarra, did well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to become one of the GT buys in IPL 2026 auction at his price of INR 30 lakh. Yarra picked up 12 wickets in nine appearances at an economy of 7.47, with best figures of 3/4. Althoughhe may not be a starter in the first half of the season, his presence will be crucial if any of the first-choice bowlers suffer from bad form.

Strengths of the 2026 GT Squad
The GT 2026 players list witnessed the team management filling the gaps in terms of getting an experienced all-rounder and a finisher like Jason Holder on the side. They also bolstered their pace bowling department with the addition of Luke Wood and Ashok Sharma.

The key strength of GT lies in their top three, with skipper Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler. They scored the majority of the runs for the side in the 2025 edition, and are expected to be the chief run-scorers in the 2026 edition as well. Meanwhile, the Titans have an impressive spin bowling attack, with the presence of Rashid Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sai Kishore.

Weakness of the 2026 GT Squad
The only weakness in the GT roster is the untested middle order. The top-performing middle-order batter from 2025, Sherfane Rutherford, was traded to the Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia did not perform at their maximum potential.

Meanwhile, Glenn Phillips was ruled out of the season after suffering from an injury and will represent the side for the first time in 2026. Although the GT Buys in IPL 2026 auction added the experience of Jason Holder and Tom Banton, role clarity will be essential for the team’s success.
