ENG vs NZ 2024 3rd Test – New Zealand Secures Convincing Win Over England After Series Loss
New Zealand delivered a dominant performance to beat England by 423 runs on day four in Hamilton, claiming a consolation victory. With England already having won the series, their chase of 658 runs ended in collapse, as they were all out for 234. Kane Williamson played a calm and classy innings that helped set up the match beautifully. Mitchell Santner also played a key role with both bat and ball, making sure New Zealand stayed well ahead. The victory was even more emotional for the Kiwis as it was Tim Southee’s final Test match.

Mitchell Santner’s All-Round Impact
Mitchell Santner had two powerful weapons. With a composed and valuable knock in New Zealand’s second innings he scored 49 runs from just 38 balls frustrating the English bowlers and helping to stretch the target far beyond reach. More importantly his spin was tough to deal with as he played a major role in breaking the backbone of England’s batting lineup. He took 4 wickets while conceding only 85 runs! a brilliant effort that helped seal the match. His all-round performance across both innings truly showed his class as a complete cricketer. Mitchell Santner was rightfully named Player of the Match.

Williamson’s Century Sets Massive Target
Mitchell Santner is a low key all-rounder, but Williamson is the explosive batsman. His century in the second innings took New Zealand to a huge target of 658 runs and made him the backbone of New Zealand’s innings in the third Test. His steady innings helped New Zealand build a solid foundation, which allowed the middle and lower order to play more freely later on.

ENG vs NZ 2024 3rd Test – Tim Southee retired with 391 Test wickets
He achieved an incredible milestone of 391 Test wickets which is no small feat. Very few fast bowlers are able to reach such heights because this format is physically demanding and fast bowlers often struggle with injuries. Over an illustrious career, he has performed extraordinarily against England in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, taking 7 wickets in his spell. That’s the best ODI bowling figure by a New Zealand bowler. Southee played more than 100 Test matches and remained consistent for nearly 17 years showing his dedication fitness and love for the game.

Top 3 Best ODI Bowling Figures for New Zealand
| Bowler | Figures | Opponent | Year |
| Tim Southee | 7/33 | England | 2015 |
| Shane Bond | 6/19 | India | 2005 |

ENG vs NZ 2024 3rd Test – New Zealand’s Spin and Seam Bowling Crush England’s Middle Order in Tough Chase
Although seamers like Potts rallied with multiple wickets, including the crucial dismissal of Williamson for 44 which was a major breakthrough in England’s fightback during the first innings, they still could not capitalise fully when compared to the New Zealand bowlers. With Mitchell Santner’s spin pressure and Will O’Rourke’s disciplined seam attack, they successfully contained England’s middle order. Moreover, England kept losing wickets at regular intervals, making it very difficult for them to build any meaningful partnerships.

Ben Stokes Injury Kicks Hornet’s Nest as England Suffers Defeat
England’s captain Ben Stokes faced a big setback when he injured his left hamstring while bowling on the third day. Due to this injury, Stokes could not bat in England’s second innings. With such a huge target to chase, it was almost impossible for any team in the world to achieve. Soon after, England collapsed, losing their last three wickets for just three runs.

ENG vs NZ 2024 3rd Test – Venue History&Analysis: Seddon Park
Stadium Capacity: Around 11,500 spectators.
Stadium Address: 50 Seddon Rd, Hamilton 3204, New Zealand.
About the Stadium:
The land was once part of Hamilton’s Town Belt and was originally set aside for possible railway development. For many years, it was used mainly for grazing animals and had no sports facilities. In 1908, a wooden cricket pavilion was finally built, and the ground became Hamilton’s main cricket venue. In 1991, it hosted its first-ever Test match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, which ended in a draw after a well-balanced contest between bat and ball. During that time, many players still sported moustaches and flamboyant hairstyles, giving the game a charming vintage feel quite different from the polished look of modern cricket.

With square boundaries between 60 to 67 metres, Seddon Park makes it easier for batters to clear the ropes, leading to plenty of sixes. Bowlers must be clever with their angles, variations, and field placements to avoid leaking runs. Fielders too need quick reflexes and smart positioning near the ropes, as the small boundary size offers little margin for error. Unlike massive stadiums, Seddon Park offers a charming and relaxed atmosphere with its tree-lined embankments and grassy banks. Fans often sit on the grass, picnic with families, and enjoy cricket in a peaceful, close-to-nature setting.
