Vipraj Nigam’s all-round brilliance guided Uttar Pradesh to a thrilling four-wicket win over Andhra in the second pre-quarterfinal of the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Needing 48 runs from the final four overs, Nigam and Rinku Singh launched an aggressive counterattack, with both players hitting boundaries and sixes to bring the equation under control. The duo took 22 runs from KV Sasikanth’s 17th over, before closing in on victory with a solid finish from Nigam and a single from Rinku on the last ball of the 19th over. Earlier, Andhra posted 150+, thanks to unbeaten knocks from SDNV Prasad and KV Sasikanth, after a shaky start. Uttar Pradesh now face Delhi in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
