Scotland was chosen as a replacement for Bangladesh because they were ranked 14th, ahead of rival countries Namibia, United Arab Emirates, Nepal, USA, Canada, Oman, and Italy, and because it is the next-highest ranked T20I team that initially failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup.
