What Happened During the Last Meeting in Champions Trophy 2025?

The first time India vs New Zealand in Champions Trophy 2025 is at the Dubai International Stadium on March 2 in a Group A encounter. Having been put into bat first, India registered a score of 249/9 in their allotted 50 overs. India lost three early wickets, including their openers Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli with a score of just 30 runs.

However, a brilliant knock of 79 runs off 98 balls from Shreyas Iyer came to India’s rescue. He laced his innings with four boundaries and a couple of sixes. Axar Patel contributed 42 runs with the bat, while Hardik Pandya played a 45-run knock for the Men in Blue.

India commenced their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Bangladesh. They bowled out Bangladesh for 228 in 49.4 overs, courtesy of a five-wicket haul for Mohammed Shami. The Men in Blue were up against Australia in their semi-final encounter. Batting first, Australia scored 264 runs, courtesy of 73 runs from captain Steve Smith and a 61-run knock by Alex Carey. Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets for India, while Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed two players each.

Virat Kohli led India’s batting again with 84 runs off 98 balls, including five boundaries. He received support from the other batters who played contributing knocks for the side. They locked horns with South Africa in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Lahore. Batting first, New Zealand registered a mammoth total of 362 runs for the loss of six wickets. He scored a century off 67 balls at a strike rate of 149.25, lacing his innings with 10 fours and four sixes. Rassie van der Dussen scored 69 off 66 and captain Temba Bavuma scored 56 off 71 balls. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner returned with figures of 3/43 in 10 overs. Glenn Phillips and Matt Henry had two scalps each in the knockout fixture.
