Venkatesh Iyer came out swinging despite an early injury scare, injecting urgency into the chase and putting RCB ahead of the game. Then came Virat Kohli, who saved one of his finest knocks of the season for the grandest stage, blending intent with control in an unbeaten 75. Even a brief wobble couldn’t derail Bengaluru as Kohli expertly guided the chase to the finish line with two overs to spare. Eighteen years for the first crown, two seasons for the next — RCB now look every bit the team everyone else must catch.
