Orange Army — Sunrisers Hyderabad, who played a trademark attacking brand of cricket last season, failed to replicate the same strategy this season, winning just 3 from their 9 matches played so far. SRH recent matches didn’t turn out as they wanted, but they can take inspiration from those losses. In this article, we will discuss the SRH qualification scenario for the playoffs.
SRH Playoff Chances Still Alive?

Well, I have to say SRH playoff chances are very much alive, as they still have 5 matches in hand and must win all of them to advance further. If they do so, the Orange Army will be pocketing a total of 16 points at the end of the league stage.

With the competition at the top getting intense, the minimum criteria of 14 points isn’t enough. However, RCB, with the same 14 points, had managed to qualify for the Playoffs in IPL 2024. If SRH want to make it to the playoffs, the safest route is to play flawless cricket in their next five games and aim for dominant wins wherever possible. Don’t forget—their Net Run Rate (NRR) isn’t looking great.

How About SRH Last Match in IPL 2025?
SRH breathed a sigh of relief after their away victory over Chennai Super Kings on Friday at Chepauk. With this triumph, they also breached the Chepauk’s fortress for the first time. Following a convincing 5-wicket victory, SRH playoff chances increased, and they need many more wins going forward.
SRH Journey in IPL 2025

We wouldn’t have been discussing the SRH qualification scenario if the side had put up similar performances from last season, where they made it to the finals. Pat Cummins and his men started the IPL 2025 with a bang, recording a 44-run win over the Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring fest. Thereafter, the attacking approach they are known for didn’t click, and they could only manage 2 wins in the next 8 matches.

One of those wins came against Punjab Kings at home, where they chased down a whopping 245 with 9 balls to spare, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s scintillating 141 from 55 balls.

SRH Match Results So Far

From here on, at the end of every IPL match, the fans will be discussing the SRH qualification scenario as their recent form isn’t that overwhelming. By observing the SRH recent matches, they didn’t play as a group. Let’s first take a look at the results from the nine matches they’ve played so far this season.
| Date | Opponent | Result |
| Mar 23 | RR | SRH won 44 runs |
| Mar 27 | LSG | LSG won 5 wickets |
| Mar 30 | DC | DC won 7 wickets |
| Apr 3 | KKR | KKR won 80 runs |
| Apr 6 | GT | GT won 7 wickets |
| Apr 12 | PBKS | SRH won 8 wickets |
| Apr 17 | MI | MI won 4 wickets |
| Apr 23 | MI | MI won 7 wickets |
| Apr 25 | CSK | SRH won 5 wickets |
We’ll be analysing SRH recent matches and where they are in the points table. They scripted 2 wins in their previous 5 matches to keep themselves alive in the playoff race. Abhishek Sharma’s heroics steered them to a record-breaking win over Punjab Kings a couple of weeks back, while in their latest encounter, they had the better of struggling Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets.

Harshal Patel’s 4-fer enabled them to bowl out the Yellow Army for a score of 154. In response, Ishan Kishan, who was out of form, put on a good show, scoring 44 from 34 balls, and Kamindu Mendis’ finishing touch (32*) guided them safely home. However, they weren’t proud of their performances against the Mumbai Indians, losing back-to-back in home and away clashes. The scores of 162 for 5 and 143 for 8 don’t justify their marauding batting line-up.

The inconsistency of their key batters, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, is bothering a lot, and even their bowling unit was way too ordinary in those losses. Even repeated changes in line-ups for every game are a major sign of a poor run of form. All these factors above slimmed down SRH playoff chances.
Major Drawback for SRH in IPL 2025

SRH brought in the change by approaching their game quite differently from last season, as they went all attack right from the ball one. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave nightmares to the opponent bowlers with their belligerent batting. Head amassed 567 runs, whereas Abhishek struck 484 runs. The same intent is lacking from the duo this season, who combined scored 501 runs between them in 9 matches.

Coming to their bowling attack, they had the finest of death bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan, but they let go of both of them and struggled to find the right replacements this season. Although Harshal Patel, who has bagged 13 wickets in 8 matches, is slightly expensive, going at the rate of 9.03. They are expecting improved performance from skipper Pat Cummins and Mohammed Shami, who have picked up 9 and 6 wickets respectively.
SRH Qualification Scenario in IPL 2025

With five games left and currently stuck in the lower half of the table, the chances of SRH to qualify are hanging by a thread. The math is straightforward: they need to win all their remaining matches to reach the maximum of 16 points. But even that might not be enough.
- SRH Maximum Possible Points: 16 — but only if they win every game from here.
- Other Teams in the Mix: Several sides are already hovering around the 10–12 point mark, which means SRH needs not just wins, but the right results elsewhere.
- Net Run Rate Factor: Here’s the kicker — their current NRR is on the negative side. So narrow wins won’t cut it. SRH needs big, dominant performances to climb back into the race.

In short, the chances of SRH to qualify for the playoffs will come down to a mix of momentum, luck, and scoreboard math, plus a little help from teams above them stumbling at the right time.
What’s the Position of SRH on the Points Table in 2025?

Currently, SRH are positioned 8th in the points table with 6 points to their name. The present position of the SRH on the points table isn’t overwhelming, and they need to do a lot of heavy lifting to boost their chances of going further.

Even the competition for the top 4 spots is getting intense as the tournament progresses, which makes SRH playoff chances very limited. Right now, the team is recharging in the Maldives, but they must win their next match against GT, or we might not get to see the Orange Army in the playoffs at all.
