Ashes 2025-26 came to a successful end with hosts Australia wrapping up the series comfortably with a 4-1 margin at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground on the final day of the 5th Test. Mitchell Starc, for his phenomenal bowling performances (31 wickets) was adjudged as the Player of the Series. Travis Head’s promotion to open the innings worked wonders for Australia as he helped the side to provide quick starts throughout the series. Experienced England batter Joe Root finally entered the 3-figure mark on Australian soil with centuries in Brisbane and Sydney. Meanwhile, in his first Ashes in Australia, next-generation star Harry Brook did well, amassing an excess of 300 runs.
Batters With the Most Runs in Ashes 2025-26

1. Travis Head – 629 Runs
| MAT | INN | Runs | AVG | HS | 100s | 50s |
| 5 | 10 | 629 | 62.9 | 170 | 3 | – |
Travis Head is definitely a gold dust for Australian Cricket. The way he redefined the opening batting in the Ashes 2025-26 was simply outstanding. He wasn’t the actual opener for the team down under, but he was accidentally promoted in place of Usman Khawaja, who had injury issues. Later, what happened was just mind-blowing as he single-handedly won the first Test at Perth with a remarkable 123 from just 83 balls.

The 32-year-old southpaw later went on to score centuries in Adelaide and Sydney. At the end of the series, he topped the list of most runs in Ashes 2025-26 with a tally of 629 runs across 10 innings at an average of 62.9. Australia, in fact, needed someone at the top who could score runs at a quicker rate to counter England’s Bazball, and Head’s promotion came at the right time.

Following his impressive run in the Ashes 2025-26, Travis Head is likely to continue at a similar position in the longest format, just like he is doing in the white-ball circuit. He made the job easier for the Australian selectors, who were looking to replace Usman Khawaja at the top of the order, following his retirement from International cricket. In an overall 65 Test matches, Travis Head has mustered 4592 runs, comprising 12 centuries and 20 half-centuries.

2. Joe Root – 400 Runs
| MAT | INN | Runs | AVG | HS | 100s | 50s |
| 5 | 10 | 400 | 44.44 | 160 | 2 | – |
Joe Root, England’s most reliable batter and currently the second all-time leading run-scorer in Test cricket (13943 runs), has come close to achieving a 3-figure mark a few times in his previous three visits to Australia, but failed to make it. Finally, it’s a relief for the 35-year-old, who struck a 138* in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, ending its century drought in the country.

Australia is a tough place for any visiting batter to score a century. Still, Root’s resilience stood out as he completed another century to his name with a top-notch 160 in the 5th and final Test at Sydney. He has now tied with Ricky Ponting for the overall record of 41 Test centuries, placing himself in joint 3rd position, behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored 51 tons. Root requires another 1979 runs to pass Sachin Tendulkar to become the all-time leading run-scorer in Test cricket.

3. Harry Brook – 358 Runs
| MAT | INN | Runs | AVG | HS | 100s | 50s |
| 5 | 10 | 358 | 39.77 | 84 | – | 2 |
Harry Brook is the name every cricketing fan should remember, as he has so much potential to rule the game in the years to come. He is adamant, positive, and has every cricketing shot in his arsenal, which makes him a special cricketer. He is currently leading England in ODI and T20I formats, while serving as deputy to Ben Stokes in the Tests.

Brook, in his first stint on Australian soil in the longest format, did well, finishing 3rd on the list of most runs in Ashes 2025-26, accumulating 358 runs in 10 innings at an average of 39.77. Apart from bagging a 2nd innings duck in the opening Test at Perth, the Yorkshire-born batter scored double digits in the rest of the 9 innings. Though his style of play is questionable many times, he makes an impact, scoring runs at a brisk pace, not many batters would do that in the middle order.
